Shaw obviously had less freedom to run when Tooves went down and I think this frustrated him a lot. Maybe with Toovs back in the picture next year, he'll be a happier man.

There's an old cliche coaches always use prior to a grand final: "You'll never play with this same team again". So, having heard it a few times, I always find it interesting to see what happens to a premiership side following its achievement of the ultimate success. Given recent delistings at Collingwood, I figured it was worth looking through the 2010 list to see what's happened since:

Collingwood list in 2010 premiership year

Still on list:
Luke Ball, Dayne Beams, Nathan Brown, Travis Cloke, Tyson Goldsack, Brent Macaffer, Nick Maxwell, Harry O'Brien, Scott Pendelbury, Ben Reid, Heath Shaw, Steele Sidebottom, Ben Sinclair, Dane Swan, Dale Thomas, Josh Thomas, Alan Toovey, Jarryd Blair (r) Lachlan Keefe (r).

2010 departures:
Retired: Tarkyn Lockyer, Paul Medhurst, Shane O'Bree, Simon Prestigiacomo, Sean Rusling; Traded: John Anthony – to Freo (delisted 2012), Josh Fraser – to Gold Coast 2010 (retired 2012);
Delisted: Jaxson Barham, Jarrad Blight, Ryan Cook, Anthony Corrie; Rookies: Jack Carter, Tristan Francis, Tom Hunter.

2011 departures:
Retired: Leigh Brown. Traded: Brad Dick - to West Coast 2011 (delisted 2013); John McCarthy – to Port Adelaide 2011 (died 2012); Delisted: Leon Davis.

2012 departures:
Traded: Chris Dawes - to Melbourne, Sharrod Wellingham – to West Coast; Delisted: Simon Buckley, Luke Rounds, Cameron Wood.

2013 departures:
Retired: Ben Johnson; Delisted: Alan Didak, Darren Jolly.

Bolded names – premiership players.
(R) – Rookie listed at time of flag

Don't want to lose him but if they're paying overs then good luck to him. Ankles still suspect, but we thought that about Stevie J in the mid 2000's and look how that turned put

Thomas has had a breakout season. He promises much. I've got a feeling he'll go two ways, either return to and maintain superstar All-Australian form or perhaps just struggle to stay on the park for the rest of his career.

I feel there's too much of a queue in front of him at Collingwood for midfield time with Swan, Pendlebury, Ball, Beams and Sidebottom. At another club he could get prime midfield time.

Although I am not sure this is all about the amount of midfield time he gets or whether that would even be a reason for him to go. I mean at Melbourne he'd be their number 1 midfielder but does that mean he'd want to go there?

Dane Swan has had wrist surgery and wont start contact training until Feb, gives him plenty of running time to work off his end of season holiday!

Odds on Swanny returning with ink on his neck / face?

He must be running out of ink free flesh elsewhere.

Unbackable that he will have a neck tat I reckon, short odds that he won't remember getting it either!
