Monfries (retired)
Krakouer (retired)
Trengove (Bulldogs) (unfortunate)

Possibly
Impey (Hawks) (needed to happen)
Ah Chee (WCE) (whatever)
Young (Gold Coast) (oh well)
Lobbe (Brisbane) (if there was a most unimproved player in AFL, he's your man)

Probably
White (delisted) (sad considering what he is capable of)
Irra (delisted) (was he on Port's list?)
Toumpas (delisted) (hooray)
Neade (possibly delisted) (please)

If nothing else, then Watts at least provides some depth/coverage/insurance.

I'm only seeing positives apart from Jacko.

Still need to replace them though, and you can't go to the draft to replace them all.

Look Watts might be the worst move since Toumpas, who knows, but obviously more astute football brains than us see value in him being brought to PAFC, and for me that's enough at the moment.

There is no chance Watts is coming for 300-400! It would be more like 650

He could do an Eddie Betts.

Many a footballer has moved states and become something, Elliott Yeo grew an extra leg moving to Perth.

Cant win with you.. harp on all winter about PAFC existing to win flags, not accepting mediocrity - they make a move at some players they believe will help with that and you're wild.

If they didn't make any changes and continued on with the same group that under performed this season, we would be listening to you whinge all next winter again about how they should've targeted a,b,c and done x,y,z.

What are you talking about Bedge.

I am stoked with most of the changes. I am even OK with Rockliff - even more OK if it means Lobbe is off the books as well. Happy for Motlop too at the right price. Happy with trading the fringies. Everything is going along swimmingly ... except ******* Jack Watts.

I can see it now. Watts getting games ahead of Marshall in 2018 and the cycle of burning out or under-developing promising key forwards continuing.

Nearly every Port fan will admit that we have mental strength issues. We shank key kicks, we panic when put under pressure, we don't make the right decisions.

We need strong willed, mentally capable, physically imposing footballers to take the next step. Leaders. Jack Watts aint any of that.

Given the players Port have lost or are likely to lose, what is your answer then?

You can't go into next season with potentially half a dozen or more experienced footballers on your list gone, and replace them with young kids from the draft.
Not a huge amount of players on offer in the trade at the moment either.

How would you replenish the list then?

Yep, Kenny getting an extended contract gives him a chance to rebuild to some degree.

Port wont make the finals next season, they may aswell launch a full on attack for 2019 IMO.

He is right, I almost see a similar type of overall contribution with Trengove to Watts.

The only way this works is if we've done a Trengove ($600-$700) for Watts ($300-$400) type deal to ensure we have enough cash for others.

Tough to compare .. Trengove had the heart, selflessness and club first approach that Watts is yet to display, yet the latter has natural ability.

Hot tip: When you trade someone, you can get a player back.

So when Impey goes to Hawthorn, we get someone back. I would like Tim O'Brien. When Young goes to <wherever> we get someone back.

If we want, we can get draft picks and pick up a strong bodied youngster. Maybe get a couple of second rounders for Young, Ah Chee and Impey and package them up to get higher up. Like we did to get SPP.

If we cant find a trade for Young, Neade, Impey or whoever, happy to sign them up for another year. They're good depth. Heck Impey is contracted, we hold the cards there.

what we should not be doing is signing up the equivalent of other clubs Young, Neade and Impeys for $650k!!! Especially when that clubs finished below us.

Yeah agreed, but on balance because of their inherent "flaws" as footballers they probably provide roughly the same. Just in different ways.
