Highly ( rightly so ) touted key defender, future captain material, speculation all year about a bloke who has played 3 years at the club after being taken when nobody wanted to risk him Vs running half back / half forward who spent large parts of the year in the SANFL who is looking for more opportunity given the recruits we'll likely get.

Close, but, no cigar.

Comparing Impey leaving to Lever leaving.

C'mon lads. The salt might be really starting to sting but lets not let it affect our judgment.

I do agree to a point.
Not sure what his best position is but Port played him all over the ground and he never settled.

Please keep in mind Impey is contracted, so a trade will need to be negotiated.

Maybe the Poppy rumours to Sydney are on the money?

O'Brien?

I'd suggest Port have an abundance of lower end picks in their top draw and would want a close to first 22 player.

I think his best position is as a small running defender when it comes to the negating side of that role but his disposal can be below acceptable when he's at full tilt. Small defenders need to use the ball really well in today's game.

He's spent time as the pressure applying forward but, again, his disposal when kicking at goal can be unreliable at best.

I don't think he's ever had the midfield tank in him, certainly hasn't in the last 2 years.

Totally agree. Was always a better defender than forward. His closing speed is unreal. In my mind he could be an elite shutdown small defender with enough tools to rebound as well.

If the game continues on trend and small forwards are the bee knees he would be a handy addition back there.
