Nuffies On AFL Pages. If he played in the SAAFL I’d suspect you wouldn’t have seen him play in that league again. Deserved more and the Barry Hall incident was 10 years ago.

My guess you are also the type that demanded Smith and Warner to never play cricket again?

Quite the opposite. Reckon they went way over the top. They didn’t assault someone 50 metres off the footy.

You’re not a good deflector.

Most people think they went over the top now. At the time people wanted blood and they got it.
It was more like 25m from the ball, but I’m sure you read from the Ross Lyon storybook.

Just on this, I’m staggered that you have that attitude towards this. Is there anything on a footy field worse than causing malicious harm 50 metres off the footy and causing serious structural damage to someone’s head? This bloke will have to live with the reprocussions both neurological and phsycological for the rest of his life. Gaff himself has ****** up but it has consequences far more than footy.

WC have said 3 would be adequate.

On 360, they said the WC defence mentioned 3 weeks was the starting point but they werent trying to say it deserved 3.

The same idiots who demanded Smith and Warner be banned forever.
I’ve sat around listen to people ring in and write about wanting Gaff to
Go to jail, be delisted, banned from football for good and all earnings removed. That not over the top to you?

You’re not even making sense. Where did most people say this they wanted blood and now are backing down? You’re deflecting again. Most people who ring 5aa and write of footy forums or on FB? Reckon he deserves 12 myself and I wouldn’t have an issue with cops laying an assault charge. Wouldn’t send him to jail though, that’s a fair stretch but that’s a small minority who are even suggesting that.

you're right in that Barry Hall didnt get 8 - he got 10, but at the time you could get the 25% discount for an early guilty plea, which brought it down to 7 games.

How many games did Staker miss.

While I would have been happy for Gaff to get a few more I think the AFL got it pretty right based on what had been handed down previously and where we are at present.

I have no problem with him getting more than Barry Hall, remembering ten years ago we were calling it a king hit. We now call it a coward punch and society have less tolerance than ever for it.

I'm not sure how you can fix the issue but unfortunately the victim is 'always the victim.' Brayshaw will miss a fair chunk of football, spend years requiring dental surgery and may never mentally recover. Gaff will miss 8 games, still be paid some form of retainer wage and will not doubt come back next year bigger, fitter, stronger than ever. Hardly seems fair but I guess life is not fair.

The thing that is missed completely in this incident is the build up to Gaff lashing out.....as an elite midfielder he gets scragged/harrassed every moment of every game he plays. Gaff has limited options to fight back and the only legal one available to him he missed and broke the opponent's jaw.

Whilst most players get away with it i'm not sure punching someone in the chest with a closed fist is within the laws.

Limited options to "fight back"?

Please, he's averaging over 30 disposals a game and his side is sitting second on the ladder. His best "fight back" is to keep doing his job for his team, get the ball, run and carry, win games.

Scragging, holding, oh, the humanity!

Spot on Boon...

Gaff f***** up. Sick of people trying to make him a bit of a victim in this...

His hit was worse than Halls, just look at the injury alone...

Games, schmames, I don't think there is any definitive number that can really justify what has happened here.
