mate, that just a stupid comment, you are basing your comment on last nights game?

No, on every game that Neil Craig has coached the Crows in, I cant see any improvement in the Crows since Craig took them over and although I think they willl make the eight I dont think they can make the preliminary final.

Sour grapes I know, yet I have never agreed with the sacking of Gary Ayres from the Crows, I think that the club sided with some players that they should have sacked, yet chose the soft option and I think that is why the club is soft now! :D

You could tell Richmond no longer believed they could win the game when those two were off the field and it was that belief that kept them right in it over the last three quarters.

If ... if .... if ......

If we had our best team on the park .....

If we had kicked straight in the 3rd quarter ....

Second guessing what might have been if this and that had or hadn't happened is just that ... guessing.

I disagree with your comments about Richmond's 'belief' to win .... they were very committed all night and played great footy I thought. How can 'not believing they can win' keep them in the game BTW?
:?

Come on hondo you're smarter than this. I meant that after those two blokes went off a bit of wind left the Tigers sails which I define as belief. It was the belief that they could win the game that kept them in it, not the other way round as you well know.

As is Terry Wallace or even Rodney Eade for the same reason...no flags.

OK ... some Victorians not knowing much about him makes him over-rated ???

makes sense after 2 prelim finals in 2.5 season's coaching

Those same Victorians probably rate Terry Wallace who, in 8 or so seasons coaching has done no better than that? In fact, look at some of the Victorian coaches with longer stints than Craigy with no premiership success - Eade, Laidley, Daniher, Thompson, Wallace

You've said that before AG ... and sucked me in before .... but that's life in a Footy Forum

I feel like each week I have to defend Neil Craig and the Crows ... why the can't the Cats and Kangaroos start losing again so I can have a break?

You should speak with someone involved at the Club, you might get a different insight in to the Ayers era v Craig's era. It was definitely not a players' coup

Tell me what happened when Andrew McCloud arrived late for training and was instructed to wash Gary Ayers car, what happened at that point?

Craig is one of the smartest coaches in the business. Ayres is an absolute dud of the highest order.

Why hasnt he been able to win a premiership then? Considering the way that Paul Roos got Sydney to the Premiership when they were largely considered by many people not to have had the players to do the job that year.

Are you aware when Craig started full-time coaching the Crows FFS? 2005 ... 2 years ago (ignoring stepping in late 2004 when Ayres left early).

Even the greats like Blight (6 seasons), Malthouse (7 or so seasons), Matthews (5 seasons or so), Sheedy (4 seasons), etc, etc took SOME time to win 1. Geez, you're tough to please.

Basically McLeod refused to do it and was backed by a number of other players, Ayres had no hope at that point of being able to do anything with the Crows.

What should have happened was McLeod and other should have been stood down from the club in the same way that Malcolm Blight was given the all clear to clean out problematic players at the club when he began there.

As a result Craig is there as long as he agrees with what the playing group think. He does not have the authority or respect that he should have, while that situation is in place, the Crows will not be premiership material.

Neil Curley, 1964, South Adelaide, bottom to top in one year capped off with the premiership, there is a good example of a decent coach! 8)

Mate, you are on the wrong train and I am trying to tell you that I KNOW - you are an Ayres fan, you have heard some stories and formed your own conclusions and if you want to stick to that POV, then fine.

Agreed - same total defensive "Don't you dare risk making a mistake!" style as Choco - whose only success came when Cunningham sat on him for a year and made hime adopt a more attacking style - and then he behaved as though the GF win was his own doing.

If I'd been in McLeod's place I would have apologised for being late [and tried not to be] but I'd have told Ayres where to shove his car - it was an utterly inappropriate thing to attempt to impose as a penalty. I am no more impressed with Neil Kerley's tendency to tell players to meet him behind the Grandstand if he thought they were slacking.

If they are breaching discipline then it is appropriate for a club to suspend or fine them after considering the issue, but not for a coach to be petty. You win respect by being fair but firm, not by being childish.

i went to the game last night, wearing my richmond gurensey of course. Though it was just going to be a blow out but i thought the tigers did reasonable, the crows just had too much run in the last quarter. Only saw a hand full of richmond supporters also  which made me think twice about wearing my gurensey. I had some old bag behind me constantly hitting me in the head with her paper  everytime i yelled "C-MON YOU TIGERS" or "RICCCHHHHHARRRDDDDSSSSOOON" apart from that i only had a couple of dirty stares and sly comments lol. If only we'd won. Got a chance to go down to the change rooms after the game and see the players and watch terry do his press report. MADE MY DAY i tell you what :D no autographs though :(
