Kangaroos will finish bottom 8 like they always do. Always show promise never go on with it.

Bottom 8 like they always do? Been watching footy for about 3 years by the looks of things. Missed the nineties obviously. I'm no North Melbourne supporter by the way.

No didnt miss the nineties rod_rooter, just talking in recent times eg. last 5-7 years (or since Carey left)

LMAO....good one Rod....your a tool Bay Boy, even if you do follow the Bays...Team of the 90's ring a bell????? probably not, take a fair bit to do that....

Never go on with it??? 2 flags in the last 10 years is a great result in a 16 team comp...

Also 15 months ago they finished 5th after the minor round

tell me who our other bad recruiting has been? Thompson, Brown, Colbert, Sinclair, Rocca???????

the draft had Wells, Goddard, McVeigh, Rivers, Brennan, Salopek, Schammer, Bell, Selwood, Minson, Staker, Ebert, Fisher, Crowley...not a bad bunch and still not the best time to judge a draft, have to wait a minimum 5 years after it to see if it bear fruit

Im expecting big things from Wells this year with the new attacking game plan, expect plenty of long runs from Super...lets be honest no-one can catch him...

Dutchy

In regards to Hay, good to read that he has worked hard over the pre-season and is running PB times, lets hope we see Hay return to form and repay the Kanga's for the faith they have shown, he needs a good start to the season to boost his confidence

Wells, I am a huge fan, he is quick, skillful, works hard off the ball, he chases and is a good decision maker. I am not sure if my high expectations of the kid is to blame but I was a bit disappointed in his 06 season.

He will always be a good player and contribute, but I want to see Wells become a superstar of the comp, so my 2007 expectations is that he takes couple more steps forward towards that superstar status

Wells!

Most overrated player in the AFL. Has a flash of brilliance and then everyone raves about him for the whole game. He is extremely average.

Over rated? Extremely average?....maybe he hasnt lived up to his "potential" YET, but Id have him in my team anyday...expect him to burn this year after settling down and with the new attackign game plan. Unlike many aboriginal players this blokes does all the 1%'s like tackling, chasing, blocking and IMO is too unselfish...many times ive seen him streak through the middle and try to hit aforward on the chest rather than taking another bounce and shooting for goal....

time will tell

Thats what you get with the majority of aboriginal players...thats how they play, eg davey... wells oozes class and with experience will become a even bigger star!

Update on Jon Hay from yesterday's Herald Sun:

Hay responds to call to lift work ethic
07 February 2007 Herald-Sun
Jim Wilson

KANGAROOS coach Dean Laidley says he's learnt a lot about Jonathan Hay's battle with depression that will help the embattled defender play senior football again.

Laidley said yesterday the signs were positive for Hay, who was dumped to the VFL last season.
Hay, 27, is in the mix to play in the NAB Cup clash against Collingwood at Carrara on February 23.

"His pre-season has been enormous and I've learnt about his condition and so has the whole football club," Laidley said after arriving on the Gold Coast for a three-day community camp.

"He's set the platform to play some real good footy, but we also acknowledge there's a long way to go.

"It's at the pointy end for him now in his career, but we'll support him and help him as much as we can.

"At the end of the day his health will come first and that will always be the priority."

Laidley has set Hay a strict training program after his dramatic form lapse last season.

"He can play on key forwards and that's what we got him for," Laidley said.

"We don't expect him to be a world-beater, but just want him to be a solid contributor."

Named in the squad but "in some doubt".

Channel 7 wouldn't be trying to beat up a story as a build up to their first match back as broadcaster?
