AFL 2024 Ladder predictions

Talk on the national game

Re: AFL 2024 Ladder predictions

I picked Carlton to finish 5th last season to a lot of ahem... "positive feedback". Carlton will be about the same, given that we won both finals luckily. The talk of us reaching the GF and winning it is premature IMO.

Other random thoughts;

I think Gold Coast will make finals this year, as well as Adelaide. St Kilda will slip outside the 8. Freo will slip further. Port - Hinkley will get the flick during the first 9 rounds. Essendon will hold - better for 2025. WCE, North and Hawks will stay down the bottom. North and Hawks the best positioned for improvement of the three.

Top 8ish in no order

Collingwood
Brisbane
GWS
Sydney
Melbourne
Carlton
Gold Coast
Adelaide

Could vie for top 8 depending on injury/draw

Port
Bullies
St K

Still another year away at least

Essendon
Geelong
Richmond
Freo
Hawks
North
WCE

Happy to have my house on with someone as a bet for anyone that thinks North will finish above Port

$2.50 for Port to miss the 8, bit of value around for a few posters on here

8 of their first 10 games at home for Port, I would expect them to be top after round 10.

For someone who 'seems' to know a little bit about football, your hate for Port is quite humorous.

Im a bit out on my Melbourne and Essendon predictions (originally had them higher than the Crows, but was too heavily swayed by Jims pessimism ;) ).

Outside of that not too upset with where I have the others at (ie, don't think they'll be too far off the mark).

Just had a crack at squiggle, the last round holds some significance.

Could be the difference between, Dogs, Melbourne, Port, Freo and Brisbane making the 8.

Couple of questions:
Will Sydney drop a game?
Will north win a game? I'm thinking round 21 vs Richmond, they have WCE at Inceston the following week though.

I have:
Sydney
Carlton
Collingwood
GWS
WB
Geelong
Freo
Essendon

Port and Melb half a game out, Lions half a game behind them two.

I do however know that I tend to rate the Dogs higher than they deserve and I do realise that form counts for f*** all this year, I just thin kthe better teams will rise at the right time.

Port will continue to look a million dollars one week and then shit house the next, I think we throw in the towel a tad too easy if the gap opens up in the last.

Thought the top 7 were a gap above the next lot.

Bottom 3 a gap below the others as well imo.

Just did a ladder predictor to finish the yr & compared to pre season thoughts.
Had 1.5 games between 4th & 10th

Sydney - Much better than i thought
GWS - Touch better
Carlton - Spot on
Collingwood - about the same, early season form cost them a couple spots
Geelong - Despite their form, can't tip against them at Home
Essendon - soft draw has helped but they have improved big time
Port - about right, slid a touch, can't win big games
WB - about right

Freo - Have improved
Brisbane - Big sliders, keeps the theme going for GF losers
Melbourne - Think they are in strife & I have given up on them
Hawthorn - Thought they would improve but really like them
GC - about right. Can't win away from home
Adelaide - Poor, gone backwards. Last year has masked over some list issues
St Kilda - Irrelevant
WCE - Improved mainly off the Harley factor
Richmond - a long way back
North - Irrelevant.
