This is a classic case of a greedy AFL spreading the AFL talent to thin.
Embarrassing to our game.

Carlton's biggest ever losing margin is 124 points, Hawks should blow that record to pieces

Why would Carlton "celebrate" their 20 year anniversary of the 1995 flag tonight against Hawthorn - when they beat Geelong in that GF?

Or bad drafting and management.

The skills of this Carlton team is embarrassing, they bottom bound for 4-5 years

I feel sorry for John Barker, trying his best to get this rabble to play a respectable standard of footy but they just not up to AFL standard. Embarrassing

Carlton needs to play all the kids now is the only way forward.

Also forget Jones ffs. Blody hell the amount of chest marks dropped.

Going to be a tough rebuild for them but they do have some good kids to start with. Just need a few more. Cripps, Buckley and Menzel are a good start. But then Jones and Tutt I dont know.

So much of Carlton's (long time ago) success was built on cheating the system - I thoroughly enjoy the shithouse situation they find themselves in - and probably will be for a few more years.

Not the result you would want as a member and supporter but pretty sure North won't be featuring much in September either

Spot on. 18 teams are ridiculous. The current Hawthorn side is a good side but give me Cats 2007-11 and Brions 200-04 any day. The league is a joke now. Hardly any good matches now.

22 days later, and the crows members have their first chance to watch their team in and honour Phillip. Going to be pretty emotional for everyone today.

As a Hawthorn follower there was nothing to get excited about last night, I felt sorry (only a liitle bit tho) for Carlton to be embarrassed on the national stage. However looking at the crowd numbers at the game, when compared to the soccer down the road, maybe no one noticed. I can only imagine what the TV audience turn off factor would have been. As soon as the cycling came on SBS I flicked over...You can't blame the Carlton faithful for not coming out, to have that effort served up to them. By the same token why would Hawks fans turn up in droves and pay good $$ to witness that....They would get a better idea of how the team is going, by heading out to a training run at Waverley.

How many members between the clubs? 110k? To get 27k is embarrassing for both Carlton and hawthorn. If the crows or even power got that sort of crowd against Carlton questions would be asked, so why doesn't it matter when two Melbourne clubs do it, especially two of the bigger ones?

I agree its a poor performance by both clubs in that respect, I think I gave my thoughts on the reason though.... and just for the record - Carlton Vs Port Adelaide - Round 12 - June 20, 2015 - Crowd 27,693.

If the crows were travelling like Carlton then their crowds would be down too. And I dare say the full house down the road would've been more appealing. You shouldn't compare a 2 team town with a 9 team town either.

When was the last time he crows got less than 30000? - Looked it up

4 times in 2013, against Dogs, Dockers, Eagles and Cats.
Once in 2011 against the Swans
Once in 2010 against Dogs
Cant find any others after 2005 which is as far as i have gone back

And the fact that there is 9 teams is irrelevant when they have at least 110000 members between them but only a quarter of them rock up
