If you think Carlton has a better draw then the Crows you are seriously delusional.

For the rest of the season both Crows and Carlton play other teams in the top 8 (I included Geelong aswell) 6 times. And for the rest of the season Carlton leave Melbourne 3 times and Adelaide travel 6 times so on those stats Carlton have a easier remainder of the season...IMO

I'd love Carlton to play GWS, Gold Coast & Port twice. Nice.

It was widely recognised that Adelaide had a fantastic draw when the season started.

But seriously, they're sitting 5-3 and could easily be 7-1.
One loss to the reigning premier by two points and one to the ladder leader by 5.
They've had one bad game against the Swans, who were on top of the ladder at the time.
Other than that, they've knocked off a grand finalist and the most improved team in the competition in Adelaide, which hasn't lost since.

All this with their captain still to come back in and have an influence.
If they're crap, then it doesn't say much for those other teams.

Write the Hawks off at your own peril REB. ;)

Yeah but they aren't are they. I've been writing off the Hawks every year since they won the flag and I've been proven right every time. As I keep saying, the Hawks are pre-season fancies every year and then a funny thing happens...the football season starts.

They rely on too few and as such will fall short again. I wouldn't back them with your money.

So far this season both Crows and Carlton have played other top 8 teams (I again included Geelong) 4 times each. So both teams have a even draw if you look at playing against the 2012 top 8.

Yes the crows play GC and GWS twice But if Carlton consider themselves a top 4 team they should be able to beat every team outside of the 8 so it shouldn't matter who the team is.

Fair enough D14, but who would you prefer the crows come up against twice......GWS and Gold Coast or North Melbourne and Richmond......all 4 outside the 8.....if i was a crows fan i know who i'd choose and thats the point Jabber is trying to make. Probability of 4 wins is higher against the former.

Anyone who cant see the benefit of playing GC and GWS twice is an idiot!

Not only is it easy wins its also an extra chance to rest and manage players.

The Eagles and Crows are my two favourites at the moment with Collingwood and Hawthorn close behind.

I won't be surprised if it's a Eagles v Crows grand final, both are playing great footy at the moment (Sanderson had been awsome!) but the Eagles may peak too early and the Crows do lack experience in finals, same with the Bombers aswell. I think the Hawks and Magpies do have the experience of playing deep into a finals series and being involved in crunch games and that will be a huge advantage too them if they are up and about. The Swans are always thereabouts aswell.

I can't see the Eagles peaking too early with all the players they have out. They should come back at the right time of the year and the Eagles will be a force.

Still Hawthorn for me. Gibson is huge and will be a welcome return when he gets back, as with Hodge to sure up the back six and help out Gilham (who will get better as the season goes) and Schoenmakers. Small defenders who can kick the ball really well (Guerra, Suckling). Quality even spread in the midfield and a forward line with more pure talent and match-winning ability than any other.

Only piece missing is a genuinely good ruckman but Hale/Roughead/McAuley should be able to break even between them.

Agreed. No harm in having blokes like Hodge and Gibson just up and running in July.

Top four in no particular order:
Hawthorn, West Coast, Adelaide, Sydney...

Thinking Adelaide will play in the GF for sure, probably against the seasoned Hawks...

Patty Dangerfield to win Norm, and the former Crowbots* to get their third flag.

I'm not saying its not a benefit just that in the scheme of things they are still playing the same amount of top & lower teams and if they think they are a top 4 team they should beat at least everyone outside the 8. So yes the Crows have easier games against GWS & GC but at least they don't leave Adelaide only 5 times a season like the VIC clubs do.

While that is true, if Victorian clubs want to play them twice then they have to travel interstate more often, can't have it both ways.
ESS, CARL, COLL & RICH travel interstate 5 times.
GEEL, MELB, STK & WB travel interstate 6 times.
HAW 7, NM 8.
Hopefully one day we can get a valid fixture for every club.
