Probably yes. I'd think 12th is our absolute best.

We've been infiltrated by someone who, let me just say, isn't completely serious about being a Port supporter.

No, someone who posted on this thread about 4 or 5 posts above. Anyway, my fault for taking thread off topic... I think it will be another year of pain but I expect some significant improvement. I would hope the blowouts stop, in addition to the games we lose when we give up a lead.

Finals aren't likely for this year, but I hope 2012 is the start of something that we can build on, and we can realistically build towards finals in 2014/2015, or at least have that as a goal.

ah ok roger roger. Yeah imo we might struggle again.

On paper our midfield is looking better and bigger bodied. Adding Ebert and Anthony to our midfield will be a big improvement. They're in the right age bracket and have the developed bodies to help our other mids improve. So with Boak, Cassisi, Gray, Ebert, Anthony, Hartlett, Thomas all going through the midfield we are finally building a decent group able to win their own ball. And hopefully some competition for places.

The thing that worries me is we have a decent core of younger players, but will our coaches be able to develop them to a high standard. We really needed to snag a high quality well regarded assitant coach(es). Touch Wood we meet our potential in the next few years.

I didn't make it to the Family Day/Internal Trial on Friday night, but I've had a look at a few of the youtube videos showing footage:

From what I've read Wingard impressed, as did AhChee with 3 goals.

Went out to AAMI today to check out our open training session.

Nothing major to report as all game play training would be held during closed sessions (understandable)

The session lasted probably about an hour and was full ground skill work. Pittard, Brett Ebert, Jacobs and Lobbe were the notable ommissions, with schulz and Carlisle completing light duties.

Was very impressed with our new look midfield. Gray looks as fit as i've ever seen him and with Boak, Rodan, McCarthy (looking very fit also), Hartlett, Cornes, Broadbent, Brad Ebert, Thomas etc. all expected to pass through there at various stages, i see our improvement coming from ability to strengthen our stoppage work and maintain upfield pressure.

Our defence hopefully will be able to create some drive with possibly Pearce being that link man out of the back half, and with more pressure upfield, will be a little more settled (certainly not under the pump constantly to the level they were last season). Jonas also looked fit and his skills have improved from last year, so he could be one to surprise.

There wasn't much to watch in terms of forwards as Butcher and Schulz were both training lightly. Stewart is looking fit and Westhoff looks like he has added a few kilo's so i guess we will find out sunday how these guys work in tandem.

Out of our draftees, im very impressed with Wingard. Moves well, super clean hands and a great decision maker. Ah Chee also surprised me a little and may come along quicker than expected. I heard he went well in the internal last week and from when he first arrived, looks like he has added a few kilo's and is very explosive. Blee and Pfeiffer (if elevated) also look capable of playing games at some stage during the year.

Now onto sunday. Im heading down with no expectations, just looking for improvement.

Footy is back!!!!

http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/ptv/ta ... fault.aspx

Those highlights of the Port v Eagles game don't give a true indication as they only show Port's attacking moves, and not the Eagles goals etc, however, it shows the young blokes did show a bit.

D Stewart, Phillips, Butcher and a few others looked good.

This week at Encounter Bay Oval, in the game against Freo, I would expect the side selected to be close to round 1, with the likes of Boak, Gray, Cassisi, Schulz, Brad Ebert to come into the team.
