Roos had an experienced, strong list most of the time due to Sydney's recruiting policy. How he would go with a bunch of kids with their L plates on is another matter altogether. His game style needs experienced players to stick rigidly to their roles with minimal errors and a very strong defence. I think regardless of the coach we have a lean year or two coming up.

The above was made partly in jest. because I knew we'd have Buckley's chance of getting him.
My serious wish- I want Riccuito.
Give it to him now. Let him go in cold and learn on the run. We could end up with another Worsfold.
I really like the ideas he has put at times in the press and I reckon the players would run through brick walls for him.

Let's face it, wehoever is coach, we r gonna be shite for a couple of years.
James Hird and Bomber Thompson can barely get the Bombers in the 8.

we have too many soft, flairy/inconsistent footballers on our list (eg. Henderson, Vince, Symes, Moran..........) , and not enough hard-nosed contested ball winners (thompson and Dangerfield).

Next 2 years will be tough. Malthouse or a newbie.

Does anyone think that there would be room in the modern game for a senior coach to not live in the state that he is coaching? I would love to see him coach here but cant see him living here, if he had the right team around him and he is there for the main sessions and game days does he really need to live in Adelaide to do the job? Just a thought outside of the square?

Can't find the article online, but he wrote on the weekend that he'll definitely be at Collingwood next year and actually has a contract with them for the next 3 years.
Forget about Malthouse, won't he him.

To Whom It May Concern:

I hereby submit this as my formal application for the position “Senior Coach – Adelaide Football Club”, as advertised for the past three years by NFC on safooty.net
I have no senior football coaching experience and also have no previous experience in any senior positions at any football clubs.
But, if chosen, my philosophies as senior coach include:
Axe Brad Moran and James Sellar.
Then I would sit back and watch the stunning improvement.

Thank you for your application but unfortunately you have been unsuccessful due to a lack of coaching experience however if you’re going to delist Moran and Sellar I would like to offer you the position of list manager.

Hopefully Buddy, Hodge and rioli..
It's not like Amateur league, Hawks stars are contracted, then a trade needs to be worked, or slip through draft. Highly unlikely.

Exactly mate, if you wanna be a success you got to bring in the best. We proved that when they brought blighty in 97, 98, only someone with balls and the knack to make the critical decisions on match day needs to take charge. have a list that needs some tweeking, maybe a few more standout midfielders and get walker down on the goalsquare and leading out, put tippett at centre half foward, like the modra, robran days. Can see Malthouse licking his lips with a young team with potential.

I think Malthouse needs to step aside to take up an easier life as is planned next year.

Out comes my crystal ball ...

Malthouse will still feel he needs to scratch the itch and so will eventually take up one of the many offers he will then get. This will be against his family's wishes. After just one season into the next job he will realise why everyone was telling him to take it easy (ie, in the media) after 27 years as a head coach.

How many times have we seen the veteran coach take on one appointment too many? Pagan at Cartlon for example. Blightly at St Kilda.

What I am trying to say is that I don't think Mick is up for another 5 year team build project even if he might think he is. I don't reckon we want someone that old with the risk they will pull the pin before the job is done. We need a coach that has experience but is still very hungry to go with us for the duration. I am not convinced Mick will have the passion for the job that is required over here.
