So you can see that Silver Membership doesn't really provide that much value for money, and the Adelaide Football Club is using non-exclusive benefits such as the Members Day (which I believe is free for everyone Member of not, well at least that was being implied when they were promoting it at the NAB Cup Friday night) and access to the Footy Express (also free to all who have a ticket regardless of whether it's a season ticket or a daily ticket) to fluff out the benefits.

Whats the old saying.... something about a bridge and building it or similar to that ;)

I will be happily paying my 300 bucks to watch the crows play at home.

I am a Gold Member and I am more than happy to pay my money every year to see the boys play. And next year Little SD will be getting a crows nest membership also. cant wait to take her to her first game :D

Whilst Nth Melbourne is better value on paper - I don't feel duped by my AFC membership. I get a free bus trip to and from the game too which I do use and this saves my wife and I a shit load of dough once you factor in fuel and parking.

You do realise the Footy Express is not a Members Only service - anyone with a match ticket can utilise that service

And the bus service isnt technically free. Its a $30 component of all memberships. I have family who live in west Lakes and have never caught the bus. They asked for the $30 to be deducted from their membership which was refused by the AFC.

Didnt 7000 or something fans sign a petition saying they wouldnt renew their memberships if Adelaide FC moved to Adelaide Oval.

But the cost is still incorporated in my ticket price, and is provided by the club/SANFL for my benefit as a ticket holder.

It doesn't discount it as a benefit of my membership/ticket just because general admin ticket holders get that too.

Rightly so, could u imagine all the requests they would want for a refund of small amounts of money?

Ok joe blogs you live here and dont want bus travel ok your membership is $x

Also you only show you ticket to get on the footy express so people could easily rip the system off.

Dont wanna pay the money dont renew your membership its as easy as that.....

Ill be 100% happy.

And a crapload of people are doing just that. I've renewed this year, but as I'm able to get to less and less games each year and with the Premier Membership now including 3 games, plus the free game I get with my Centrals Membership, I'll probably downgrade to the Premier Membership next season. At least with the Premier Membership you don't have to sit with the same idiots week in week out.

There is no way any club could or would be able to cater for every individual member of some 30k members. Impossible

And i wouldnt worry to much about AFC membership. Id back the people employed to crunch the number over yours, mine or anyone elses opinion on the matter.

I think there are many people in your situation Brucetiki. Been members for years and have enjoyed it, but getting to games is just becoming a lot of effort and they aren't enjoying it enough anymore to justify the expense.

I just think it's just the natural evolution of the supporter/membership base though, and for everyone of those that drops their memberships, there's someone else who is keen for the season ticket experience who will take their place (ie my wife and I last year).

However, the drop off has been significant this year. So much so that the waiting list has been cleared and the club is now selling Silver Memberships to the general public for the first time since around 1992.

Isnt this due to the change in the members section? as well as increased cost of living etc its natural for some people to otherwise prioritise their $$$. Last years smaller crowd numbers could also the teams performance and some people wont go out of their way to attend games if they think they will loose. Happens to all clubs when the struggle.

I fork out between $400 and $500 every year to have a family Melbourne based Geelong membership, we get to 1 or 2 minor round games! And even though we get free entry into 11 games we usually pay extra for the one or two we do attend to get better seats. Now THATs value!

The Dog_ger can't even think about an AFL membership because of the price.

I am a low income earner.

This level of sport will lose me if it is not on free to air.

Comment Andrew Demetriou

I think you guys get it fairly good.
Im an essendon silver member and this year cost $831 each( got one for wife aswell)
For that i get all the basics plus a reserved seat at every home and away game at etihad or mcg. Also has guaranteed finals and grand final reserved seat if essendon participate( insert jokes here :D )
I usually get to about a dozen games a year so about $70/game.
The only bummer is they are not transferable, because we are hosting anzac day match and ive been offered up to $400 to use my tickets for the day.

If that was the case and people are lining up to take over memberships via evolution.

Wouldnt that mean Adelaide FC's membership wouldnt of decreased

BTW

Adelaide FC's Membership figures since 2007

I've renewed this year, but as I'm able to get to less and less games each year and with the Premier Membership now including 3 games, plus the free game I get with my Centrals Membership, I'll probably downgrade to the Premier Membership next season. At least with the Premier Membership you don't have to sit with the same idiots week in week out.

If that was the case and people are lining up to take over memberships via evolution.

Wouldnt that mean Adelaide FC's membership wouldnt of decreased

45k members is pretty damn good...... fair few other clubs would love to boast that amount.

Cost of living and prioritising lifes pleasures also can be factored into the miner decrease over 4 years
