If Kelli Underwood was male, this discussion wouldn't even be occurring. Her player ID is very good, her ability to describe the action is good. Being a female, there will inevitably be the percentage who give "She hasn't played the game, what would she know".

A sentiment, interestingly, I have not heard about Luke Darcy calling the netball.

Want job in the media?

Then put in the hard yards.

As I'm sure many of the aforementioned "bimbos" have done.

That means doing menial jobs like being a runner or a production assistant and getting treated like absolute crap before getting your first break.

Exhibit A: Vile Sandilands.

Started in community & regional radio. Worked his fat backside off. Volunteer work, graveyard shifts, anything and everything to get a radio show.

Not a fan of the bloke. But I don't begrudge his success either. Because he wasn't just handed a commercial radio gig on a platter.

Well posted MP.
The insinuation that Underwood didn't do the hard yards is very poor.

Luke Darcy is very ordinary at calling the netball. I don't rate him at all.

Where do I start with this....maybe things are different in Sydney.
In Adelaide we have such "hard yards" radio types like ....Warren Tredrea ,Lucy Cornes and Mark Ruccuito on commercial radio

Yeah it was Ch 7, I just presumed it was always going to be a short stint, and never went onto anything else due to her and Kane starting a family.

You rarely see the commentator, so who cares what her honkers look like?

Has to sound appealling, and actually have an understanding of the game...

I don't know what's worse - her monotone or McAvaney constantly asking questions in his call

"wasn't it? didn't he? aren't they?" and the like.........it's as if he is seeking endorsement from those who actually know.

You would think the producer would step in and ask Bruce to cut that crap out, but no.

If she did it nude and they had a camera on her in the corner no-one would be complaining.

Correct.

That is why this discussion IS occurring.
She is hopeless and is the worst commentator i've heard due to the fact she has a female voice.
She probably is a lovely girl who has great footy knowledge.
But that's not the point unfortunately.
It's just one of those things that should be left to a male voice.

wether she was female, male animal or mineral.

her voice is so frickin annoying and the way she calls the game is even worse!

anyone who calls the game the way she does or has an annoying voice shouldnt get a job when it involves them talking

So - if the caller was a male, with no idea about the players on the field, who they are, calling the action wrongly and generally making a complete hash of the whole thing - that is more acceptable than a female who is getting the players right and the action correct?
