All clubs go through some lean years, you'd know that being a Geelong supporter. Wasn't it 40 years between flags until this decade when you should have won all 3 you were in. They should prob win again this year too

Heh heh. Got me a Bluefin! Yep, the old 44 year premiership drought wasn't much fun. We weren't called 'Cat fans' we were 'long suffering Cat fans'. We didn't have a winning culture and even when we did have a half decent side we shot ourselves in the foot...........hmmm sound familiar? Your winning culture is gone and you can't buy flags anymore and you've just jettisoned a Coleman medallist! You can expect your next flag in about 25 years. Enjoy!

Yes that was a low blow Mr Boon. On the pain factor 2008 is long way behind the 5hite that was served during the Blight era. Imagine how bad us Cats fans would be if we had won all of those flags under Blight? I'd be even more popular than I am now ha ha.

You're right with that Booney. I would be quite happy with 2 out of the last 3. What I wouldn't be happy with is all the prior GF's (in the 90's) when they should have won but didn't. Would have been better to go with that one me thinks Turbo ;)
Besides, I've given up trying to give REB any shit about anything until the Cats stop they're domination and my team stop acting like a rabble ;)

How do you work that out? Geelong were comprehensive underdogs to 2 awesome West Coast sides and a star studded Carlton side that were also dominant?
Why SHOULD have Geelong have won?
Unless you're alluding to the fact Carlton were found to be salary cap cheats and don't deserve their 95 flag then I can see where you are coming from.

Reckon they were underdogs in 89 too.

92 there seemed to be a fair bit of support for them among the media experts, but I'd always thought the Weagles would get the choccies.

94 and 95 they were BIG underdogs.

LMAO. Not only do you have to worry about me Voicey but you've got to watch out for Wedgie also ha ha. Underdogs in all four finals but in retrospect we should have won that 1992 Grand Final. We were five goals up at one stage. Playing Bairstow on Matera was hardly one of Blight's masterstrokes. 1992 and 1995 were our best chances but 1994 we were behind not only West Coast but Carlton and North as well who we cleaned up that September, we were unfit and simply not good enough on that grand final day.

Hey people, I was trying to help out Turbs. I think he's to young to even know about those GF's so I was trying to give him a fighting chance. Maybe I should of said 'could've won' not 'should've won'. Settle down lads, geez ;)
Besides, if your in the GF you have as much chance of winning as the other side. No underdogs in a GF if you ask me.

Your point? We could've won it in 99 had we played our best footy. As it was we played our best a week before. Doesn't mean it wasn't a 50/50 match before the bounce. Surely you of anyone would agree that once you're in it's anyone's game, otherwise 08 is more dissapointing for you then I realise!

I wouldn't even worry about arguing with REB mate. We all know what he says is gospel ;) . I agree with you by the way. If you're in the GF, any team can win, no matter how much of an underdog you are. 2008 proves that

Trust me, I'm not arguing with him. Sick of getting shutdown ;)
Just interested in why he brought up 99. I realise we came from 6th but all the favouritism in a GF stuff is just media beat up.

I was at that prelim when Carlton beat Essendon and it will still go down as the best game I have ever seen (apart from the 2007 and 2009 Grand Finals)

Didn't have the pleasure myself. Thoroughly enjoyed 93 beating Adelaide though. Still the only Carlton final I've been to.

Wasn't trying to argue with REB or have a dig at Geelong. We haven't been successful over the past decade but were for the previous 100. Big deal. Lets be honest you really are as good as your last game from which we can determine that Geelong were the best.
As far as being too young to remember those games is incorrect as I have been a fan of Carlton for over 30 years.
I also agree that the 99 prelim is etched into my memory as the best game I have seen, although other contenders are the 89 GF, and I think it was the 84 State game when Kernahan kicked 10 (if that was the close game).
