However, statistically we have the third best defence in the league (and the third best offence) and considering the lack of scoring ability of the Crows it could very well be where the game is won and lost.
The thing I worry about more than anything at the moment is that we still have the tendancy to go to sleep in patches of games. I've seen many a time where the Crows have scored quickly against us in a ten minute period and then grind the game out with that lead.
Should be an interesting contest and get ready for a large Carlton presence as the reserved areas for Carlton members were extended during the week due to demand, and sadly for Crows supporters, also due to availability

And haven't the Bluebaggers been knocking down the doors to arenas all over the country during this golden decade for the club. LMAO, every team has 'fans' who drop off when the going gets tough Voice.

REB

They're not exactly 1 and 10 with no hope of finals now are they REB. If they want to drop off when still a good chance to play finals then thats pretty poor form from their supporters.

Well a much better home performance today and about time.
Tenacious and strong at the ball in the first half which helped build the big lead and kept Carlton goal-less.
Having said that, Carlton were inept and looked like they still had a hangover from last week's big win.

Third quarters are still a worry, I never thought a loss was on the cards, but it shows some players hold back when they think the job is done.

Top performance today from Knights. I've been a critic, but he's now showing that he could be a very good opportunist forward.
Same goes for Dangerfield, but he really needs to work on his goalkicking. A bag awaits.

Finally a win at home! Felt like heading back in to double-check the scoreboard because it didn't feel right walking out of AAMI a winner. Top notch performance from the lads though, Dangerfield dishing some punishment out to the point post and Mackay wrong-footing Murphy were both special moments. :)

Oh and....Knightsy you bloody gun. Looks to be developing some arrogance in his game and I don't mind that, every quality side has at least a couple of players with that swagger about them. What an asset that left leg is when it's on target, and his pace and tackling are both exceptional.

I've come here to cop my just deserts for my post in regards to one Michael Doughty.

May I say that he did a great job on Chris "behind the pack" Judd, who because of Doughty only had effective disposals when he got cheap 1-2 handballs in the backlines.

Adelaide made Carlton play bad, due mainly to pressure on the ball carrier.

Also I will say that Doughty is a much better tagger than he is a defender and should play a negating midfield role every week.

Also, I'm not fussed about the third quarter, Carlton were gifted 2 of those early goals by the umpires, had to laugh when all the Carlton mongrels near me were cheering like they won a Grandfinal over goals from bs free kicks.

What a great, intense, hard working effort. Well done lads. They needed a home win but I thought Carlton would be too strong so I'm wrapped! :D

Some of the guys who were down on form came back strongly like Thompson, Douglas, Knights, Reilly, Doughty, and probably more I can't think of now. Doughty's job on Judd was fantastic.

That change of direction against Murphy in the pocket was borderline arousing. Would've been one of the goals of the year for us - you'd have thought the goal posts had learnt their lesson after Dangerfield lined one up for the front-on bump.

Bah, had a rough time tipping the crows this year. Keep tipping them when my gut feel says we'll get done; I play the percentages with this one and the crows decide to put in something like a four quarter effort. -_-

He can also take a mark, and is apparently not bad at snapping for goal. I'd try keeping him in the midfield and forward pocket rotations.

I predicted one thing days ago if AC won this game
The headlines in the papers would be
'We did it for Macca'

Indeed those words were on page 45 in the paper the next day

Mentions of a "3rd quarter fade out" are a bit crap, there was a fade out last week and the week before, but not this week. Carlton were gifted goals by the umpires and the Crows stemmed their scoring during the third quarter, in which Carlton made use of the wind. Honestly Carlton hadn't scored a goal in the game, they were going to eventually.
