1st week of the finals

Talk on the national game

Regardless of where the crows finish, I'm tipping the AFL is quietly relieved in having 6 Victorian based clubs in the 8. A couple of years ago when there was only 4 and then by the prelims there was only 1 with 3 interstaters in it as well spelt disaster for Victorian interest and their agreement with the MCC on games at the MCG

I'm not sure of the finer details but there was something to do with an agreement that there would be X amount of finals games over Y years and with that particular year with all the interstate sides in the finals and with home final rights it put the AFL behind in their agreement but they renegotiated it and simply had to make it up over time.

I think Dutchy was just rolling his eyes at North Melbourne not being included in that equation.

Oh OK, being Sunday Night the prospect of heading back to work tomorrow seems to smother my sense of humour.

I reckon that Geelong, Adelaide, Sydney and Hawthorn will win this week. I tip it to be Geelong vs Sydney and Hawthorn vs Adelaide Prelim Finals.

Sydney to rise from the dead and win their next 2? Unlikely. I hope they win this week but I think that would be the end of the road.

Sydney only have to play the Kangas at home. Very beatable considering last weeks performance. Then play the Bulldogs who are not in the greatest form. Then bring on GEELONG!!!

Just a question...

Why is tonight's game being labelled the 2nd Qualifying Final when it is the first final being played for the series ??

Is it simply because Geelong finished top so their final, although it is being played after tonight's game, is actually the 1st Qualifying Final ???

Just curious, seemed strange seeing it labelled the 2nd final on the TV ????

yep. The answer was in your post.

Simply the Saints played last Sunday hence why they play this Sunday...

They try to get the breaks for each team as even as possible....
