Brisbane a flag threat?

Talk on the national game

Re: Brisbane a flag threat?

On what I saw on Sunday, a full strength Brisbane side is a flag threat, but twice this season they haven't displayed that killer instinct (i.e. by not putting teams away when they had them on their knees at lemon time) so they will need to develop that before September.

Brisbane are a good solid side.........very strong forward line and good runners.....
and a very good coach, lets face it if you have a coach that took the "Wobbles"
to a flag he must be good.....

i will be at the Gabba Saturday night................

Not being ultra familiar with the club can anyone tell me how deep their list runs? Also, I know they still have Lappin to come back in, any others that would be first choice?

Cheers mate.

Well I guess they have to be rated some chance, but I still think they would need to improve a bit as the year wears on (and no doubt thus far, they are headed in that right direction).

As with many teams they will need a good run with injury, particularly among their senior players.

They have an excellent group of 2nd tier players Hooper, Sherman, Rischitelli (sp??), Patful, Rowe etc, and of course among their seniors, they have a man that when on song can beat anyone and virtually win a game off his own boot in JB.

I still think the Lions v Hawks was the best game of this season (or up there anyway), and perhaps Brisbane have more scope for improvement than the Hawks, so who knows?

Brisbanes best recruit is Leigh Matthews and I think that will be what makes them a flag threat if they do happen to make it in this year!

Just got home from the Brisbane v Roos match........and i must says Brisbane are good very very good!!!..........i believe they have the best forward combination in the league with Brown/Bradshaw those guys are fantastic......and lethal around goals, they are both strong, mobile and can take a strong grab............

i dont believe they are a true flag threat this season but with the improvements they have made in the last two years i think next season you will see them as a top three side.....also love there style of footy, lethal has them playing long direct fast football, they really us the pockets at the gabba well as it more rounded in shape than other tradition aussie rules grounds...i think coz at one stage is was used for greyhound racing....

One last point if you havent been to the gabba you must make the effort coz in my opinion its the best staduim of its size .....locations is good, facilities excellent and fantastic seating regardless or where you sit...even the staff are friendly and approachable and the AFL would have to be happy with brisbane coz i reckon 50% of the crowd where under 15yrs which is great to see the kids wanting to be part of our great game!!!!!

Top post burger king. Now stop it right away you're scaring me. Now if FTA had the balls to show the game who knows how far it could go in Qld. Rugby League is the state sponsored inferior product.

Brisbane are a big chance to be 13-4 by round 17.
If they can defeat Bulldogs and then Adelaide in the coming two weeks, they have four 'easy' games after that against Essendon, Richmond, West Coast and Melbourne.
Vital couple of weeks coming up.
No Bradshaw this week could hurt their chances though...

Dont say that too soon. Brisbane at the moment are gone, but if they do make th final 8, they will cause problems. I wouldnt want to play an elimination final against them.

I would the way they are going right now.
They're getting close to teams, but they gotta get that killer instinct and finish teams off when they are in front.
Not enough pace in the side either and no-one to crumb successfully off Brown.
