Rik E Boy wrote:Ho hum, another pretender put back in their box by the mighty Catters. If you can't play four quarters against the Cats you won't win it simple as that. The Saints were on top during that first quarter but really let us off the hook by kicking 4.7. The reality of the run of play was that they should have led by three or four goals. We got absolutely smashed in clearances and were beaten in contested footy as well.
For the rest of the game those stats were turned around and only some half rat power footy in junk time prevented another blow out for St Kilda. Some points from the game.
1. King outperformed Blake: That was the best game I have seen King play for many years. He was mobile and tapped really well to advantage, something that he hadn't done all that often in his latter years in the Cattery. Blake fought back in the middle of the game but I thought King took the points in that battle.
2. Ling still owns Dal but not as badly as last time: Nick Dal Santo worked really hard to get into the game but for most of it once again Cameron Ling was his master. Dal Santo managed to get involved in the game in the last quarter and a half but he'll be a relieved man not to have to face Ling again until September should the match up eventuate.
3. Report time! Young Gamble will get a holiday for socking Dal Santo, West won't have a case to answer and I reckon Cam might get off after appearing to trip Montagna.
4. Luke Darcy had his money on the Saints: What a pain in the ar5e. He was driving me crazy with some of his comments today.
5. G Train is finished: Totally inefectual. Reduced to playing the role of a decoy forward.
6. Harvey finished? It is almost heresy to suggest this but the great Saint can't keep up the pace these days. When he is on the park he still is influentual as he showed during a brilliant first quarter effort but he needs to be managed a bit better by the Saints.

I agree with one and disagree with the other.
3. I think that Mooney will go for that, hard to say that it was a jump or reflex?
5. The biggest impact the G train had on the game was that when Scarlett was playing on him he was able to set so much run up for the Cats
