I myself am undecided about this game.

However, it's a concept which works exceptionally well in the US with their All Star games in basketball. Why are we not embracing it? Is it overt parochialism on our behalf?

Maybe an East v West or similar type game, which occurs in basketball, may have had more merit.

I think the fact that it has not been well received outside of Victoria is because it is Victoria versus "The Rest".

SA/WA/NT v QLD/NSW/VIC in an West v East scenario may have been better.

It is still interesting to watch the AFL's best all run around in the same game - so I will still watch.

That reads like a 'no', if I've retained my ability to detect subliminal messages.

Well looks like only Boomer gets a game from the Roos so it will be a nice week off to freshen up the Shinboner squad 8)

Firrito, Jones, Campbell very unlucky IMO but then again we are used to being underrated...

well your not gunna pick Firrito before Darren Milburn,Matthew Scarlett, Campbell Brown, Heath Shaw, Dustin Fletcher,Luke Hodge or even Dale morris are you. and who does Corey Jones qualify for grew up in Wycheproof victoria but played in the SANFL. he is propably the only unlucky one out of the 3. Campbell is still trying to show he is an AFL player hes only played 17 games.

Will be on the PC that night as would be boring as hell to watch.
Should have been Geelong v the rest but the AFL were probably scared the cats would win by 15 goals.
they way your talking you would think that Geelong are the best team to play in the History of AFL. would love to see them get pumped by the 2000 bombers

Dont remember the 2000 Bombers winning as many awards, winning a flag by over 19 goals or revolutionising the game.
One who would think that Geelong are the greatest team to have played AFL would be spot on and have the records to back them up too. ;)

Don't recall Essendon 2000 or Carlton 1995 losing more than two games......unlike Geelong 2007 who lost three.

Geelong 2007 was a damn good side. Best ever? Well I'll reserve my judgement...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Should be Vic v WA. Why have Vic v SA? We were the only state that was too full of our own self importance to join the national comp when it started up.

A record margin doesn't = best ever side in the history of the game.

I'm sure there's an Essendon from the 80s, Collingwood and Melbourne from the after war years, Brisbane (which won three in a row in an era when it was never supposed to have been achieved) or a Hawthorn era from the 70s and into the late 80s, that would either be ahead of the Cats last year or at least the equal of them.
