The issue is Carlton are offering $7.5m for five years, this is about 15-20% of your salary cap on one player

This is a MASSIVE gamble

Waite, Murphy and Gibbs will also demand market value in the future, how do you retain and recruit new talent

This would make it extremely difficult to be a stong list with depth

SD prediction, if Judd goes to a club for these $$$, Judd will not win another Premiership medal under the current salary cap restrictions

And we all know that carlton and salary caps get real well together.

Gee all those people demanding free agency have been quiet with the chance of Judd going to Collingwood in the air. Imagine if he could just turn up with his bag.

Wether that dollar amount is correct or nor remains to be seen HOWEVER, Carlton have by way of retirements lost two of our biggest earners. If Whitnall stays ??? his dollar figure will go down immensely. If they involve Fevola in a trade then he his our highest paid player and we would have HEAPS of room to move in the cap, considering Kouta was a $1 mil man...

Herald Sun reports that a close source to Juddy has said that he'd rather play for a little bit less cash, than take a s**t load of money and put the future of his club at risk of not being able to retain other stars and new young talent.

Maybe the eagles might be looking at Fev in the trade works?

Actually ive had a think about it and I believe it has already been mentioned on this site before that the eagles might actually be looking at Fev. This would give them that key forward that players like Lynch and Hansen could play around as 2nd and 3rd targets.

There is no doubt WCE will be looking at Fev and picks for Judd, the big question is if he would want to move to Perth? I have my doubts, but if he did i would love to have him at WCE.

A move to perth maybe something he would consider. If would get him out of the spot light for a bit.

Braun through no fault of his own (Apart from the Swearing incident)

The question is will Fev want to leave his Business and ship his family over to Perth? i have my doubts. For me Collingwood favourite to get him which means WCE gets royally screwed.

Why would this assumption be so? I would have thought if he ended up at Collingwood then WCE would have got something for sure.

Surely WCE will want a top three pick. Carlton & Richmond are the only clubs that have them. Richmond would be crazy to burn pick two. Carlton will use pick one for Kruezer. This leaves pick 3. If Collingwood want to play then they may get involved in a three way deal involving the Blues.
Would have to be a fair bit for Carlton to give up pick three to ontrade to Collingwood for them to secure Judd....
This could be very very messy for WCE..

I am over in Perth for work for a few days and they are shattered over here!

Anyway, back page story of the paper reported that WCE wanted the number 1 and number 3 draft picks for Judd - or at least 2 early round 1 picks (including number 1 I presume)

Seems a lot but as they said Judd is a gun and is only 24 - still doubt they would get that for him but who knows?

I am interested on members thoughts on the following

If Judd goes to Carlton as widely tipped, Do you believe as a player he will be as damaging as he was at west coast

my initial thought is No for the following reasons

1. At West Coast, Judd was always tagged, however rarely double or trippled tagged, reason for this is opposition sides also had to worry about Kerr and Cousins. At Carlton, Judd will not have this midfield support and oppositions side will have the opportunity to double tag Judd

2. At West Coast, Judd had a fantastic ruck combination to work with, Cox is a dual time All Australian, Cox had a wonderful understanding with Judd, often gave Judd first look at the football at the clearences. At Carlton, they have no dominant ruckman, Judd will need to work harder at clearences.

3. Explosive pace, Judd's big assett is his explosive pace of the mark, are his grion and hip concerns short term only, or will it have some impact on his trade mark explosiveness, their has to be some question marks

Dutchy,

Interesting to hear that Judd's manager said that his future club would need to be a finals contender and a premiership contender

surely that than counts out Richmond and Carlton
