Just 8 pts up at 3 qtr time.

Goodwin misses shot and then a pathetic free kick to Buckley. No way that was a free

Tense final qtr coming up!

I agree...a real average game. Can't see either team going far in the finals...

Given it's effectively a final for Adelaide, could the finals-type pressure be the contributor to the standard described? Funny things happen around finals time.

The Adelaide player did a very similar thing earlier on and they didnt call it. I can understand them calling it, but they could at least be consistant

If you're talking about that deliberate decision, in the AFL it's not the first of its kind to be given as a free kick. Unlike the SANFL where it is never paid (which is consistent) ;), the AFL aren't afraid to do so. The argument against a free kick there was that there was pressure on Wakelin. But his only intention was the boundary line, so it's paid as a deliberate free kick.

What happens then though is that there are many scenarios which may or may not be given. Therefore as you said, it can be inconsistent.

His athleticism, speed, marking ability, vertical leap, agility and stamina make him nearly impossible to contain.
He may not have taken a hanger in a while, but he still has a crack more often than anyone else in the AFL.
Great pic in Monday's tiser of Burton's near one handed attempt.

 Brett Burton took a pretty good mark in the first quarter i think and thats all i saw of him

Great to be back in the finals

8 finals appearances in 11 seasons - 5 times in top 4, 2 premierships

4 wins out of last 5 weeks, before tonight leading the league in clearances and inside 50s over the last 4 weeks

Bring it on!

Martin Clarke was caught holding the ball at least twice and both times it wasn't paid. Umps were trash both ways.
