Brian Lake to Hawthorn on a 3 year deal is a whisper i've been told after Bulldogs offering him only 1 year.

if Hawthorne could get a deal done on this, i think it would be a huge boost to them. There premiership window is definatly still open and what they lacked last year was 1 possibly 2 key defenders and i also think Lake has got plenty to offer in the AFL, Good bye Ryan Shoenmakers if this deal happens and it wouldnt be before time

No it would allow Schoenmakers to play the role he should be which is on the 3rd tall not the monster forward.

Exactly. Why would they get rid of Schoenmakers. He can play the big forwards but he can't do so every week. He needs a chop out. Even Taylor and Lonners get beaten every now and then and when this happens Scotty just switches them around but Hawthorn don't have that option.

Shows how much the Bombers rated him. Unless they are desperate for cap space.

I'd say cap space was an issue, along with AM wouldn't be staying at ess even if they tried to play hard ball with Port.

Since 86.....6 out of 25 pick 48's are worthy of a mention judging by that...

Im happy giving away something that is 76% likely to achieve nothing ;)

If the prediction of this draft being a great one the Bulldogs will be alright in a few years time. They will have plenty of picks.

Might even get more with the rumours of Rob Murphy wanting out.

I haven't had a chance to read articles ect but did Lake get traded for a first round pick?

Am I the only one thinking this is not a smart move?

Monfries for pick 48 is very good IMO. I reckon Port have turned a corner in the last week.

Brian Lake was the highest paid player at the club for his last contract,so the bulldogs should be in the same situation as the crows with Tippett having a reasonable amount left in the salary cap.

Brilliant job by the Bombers, get rid guy who would be spending most of the year at Bendigo on decent money.
We have plenty more if Port want them

Great move by the Dogs. Offload one of their highest paid players who only has maybe 1 or 2 good years left and load up on kids. Dogs aren't going to win the flag in the next year or two so buid for the future

I agree that Port seem to be looking better, Hinkley was impressive on 5AA tonight.

Lake was good 3-4 years ago but injuries have taken their toll and nearly at the end.

Nor will the Hawks with their 'reject of the year' recruiting policy.
