Yeah cause it’s a real thugs game these days hey REB

Fair dinkum

Fair dinkum indeed. You've missed the point by miles. The Port way as I understand it is Power at the body, power at the ball. I just don't see it in these players. I wasn't talking about decking blokes.

As does Stanley, Cockatoo, Murdoch, Horlin-Smith and Menzel.

See, pretty easy to just pot blokes.

What REB is saying is the likes of Hartlett, Wingard etc don't represent the PAFC of old, so you've missed the point, you see the blokes you've named very much represent the Handbaggers of old from Kardinia Park.

I think Louis Vitton played for them during the 70's.

That old chestnut. If those eleven matches didn't mean anything you wouldn't have commented in this thread.

Port Adelaide vice-captain Ollie Wines has pledged allegiance to the club beyond 2018.

Viewed as the captain-in-waiting, Wines’s current two-year contract extension expires at season’s end.

“I’m comfortable where I am,” he told SEN’s Time On.

“It’ll only be a matter of time (before he signs). The old contract debate comes out at this time of the year for a lot of players and I’ve still got eight months left on mine. I’m in no rush to sign but that time will come.

“I guess to get a trade you have to be in a bit of strife or looking for some extra coin and I think the club has done everything right by me and my family.”

Rated as one of the game’s premier young ball winners, anything less than a multi-year offer in the vicinity of $800,000 a season is likely given the Echuca product does not turn 24 until October.

He was today announced as vice-captain as part of the club’s seven-year leadership group headed by skipper Travis Boak.

Wines said coach Ken Hinkley was enjoying the pre-season and “telling a lot of bad jokes that he knows”.

He also hinted star recruit Steven Motlop was honing in on Round 1. The former Cat was taken along slowly during January but has upped the workload in recent weeks.

“The last two weeks he’s been up and about,” he said.

“He’s just so quick and agile.”

Port Adelaide opens its season against Fremantle at Adelaide Oval on Saturday March 24.

Why go back home now when he can wait til he's 27-28 and leave the public hanging in suspense for 12 months then drop the bombshell so all of those who loved him for many years can get their pitchforks out.

Hardly by choice. I would never begrudge anyone for returning to their home state, it's the risk you take when recruiting.

Um yeah he did. Left on free agency. Impey requested a trade. Oh and Ah Chee requested a trade also.
Believe it or not, Port have people who choose to leave also, just not the high profiles ones. They stay and continue to underperform ;)

Impey's move was two fold, one back to family and two because Trengove ( pea's in a pod ) was either not part or Port's plans going forward or, was offered a deal that he felt was low ball, or, the latter was because of the former.

Impey had a year to run on his contract, ultimately if Port wanted to keep both of them I'd suggest we would have.

There in lies the difference, even if Adelaide wanted to keep Lever ( which I'm sure they did ) he wasn't staying.

Every club has players choose to leave, not many have the really good ones doing it year....after year....after year....after year.....

Ah Chee never cemented a spot, he's a WA boy, West Coast need mids, easy fix and best wishes.

Impey had a year to run and if we wanted to keep him, we would have.

The Trengove one was and is I understand still messy.
