Finals or bust wasn’t it?

Definitely needs to be looked at, to go out only winning 1 of the last 6 games from the position we were in is a massive under achievement.
I suspect unless we bring in some coaches to challenge his coaching and offer an alternative then we'll be having the same frustrations in the next few seasons

Without looking in depth is it fair to assume that Ports list is right up there age wise and most of your stars are running out of time?

That's a fair assessment, I can think of Boak, Gray, Westhoff, Ryder that are in the 30's, Ebert, Dixon, Hartlett, Rockliff, Watts, Jonas would all be late 20's. That's nearly half the starting 22 right there.

What extra extra extra piece of the puzzle does Ken need now for them to make finals next year? ;)

SPP not in your best 22 is a surprise.

Your 6 oldest are constantly in your best.

I think there is more to it than just average age. It just seems that most of Ports better players are in the older bracket and the list looks like it could fall over fairly quickly.

I saw a bit of the Magpies on TV on Sunday...SPP looked completely disinterested out there.

We've got 2 years to replace Westhoff, Ryder and Boak in my view and R.Gray is irreplaceable so I don't expect too.

Marshall 19, Powell-Pepper and Houston 20, Byrne-Jones and Howard 22, Lienert and Wines 23, Wingard and Clurey 24, Polec 25, S.Gray 26, Hartlett, Dixon, Jonas, Motlop all 27 all have 4-5 years or more in them. There's a nucleus.

I'm going with a new approach next year. No posts about my team, purely posting about another sides crowds.

A sensible strategy... just make sure you don't mess it up and only post about Port crowds... that could end badly ;) #frontrunners #timeslots #tarps #etc

It seems not... from FiveAA

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch is "absolutely" backing Ken Hinkley as the Port coach comes under pressure following a disastrous end to the club’s season.
Port has lost five of their last six games and are now likely to miss the finals after sitting second on the ladder at one point during the season.

“I can absolutely say there is no question about the future of Ken Hinkley whatsoever,” Koch told FIVEaa breakfast on Monday.

“Leadership is all about backing your judgment. Analyse any successful sporting organisation and it’s about stability…

“I just remind people of the cycles that clubs go through in terms of just trying to find the magic of a successful season. It boils down to a lot of situations…

“You’ve got to battle through that and believe in yourself. That’s not to say you bury your head in the sand… you’ve got to be ruthless to be elite.

“We’re in a performance industry. We have a history at our club of performance. Don’t think the entire club… don’t think that they’re not disappointed with the last six weeks and feel the pain of every member.

“I think Ken is the best coach for the Port Adelaide football club. At 11 and four Ken was seen as a super hero, then everyone changes their mind so quickly.

“That’s the brutality of AFL at the moment. It is such a finely tuned competition… the last six weeks have been disappointing. Ollie wines put it right when he said he’s a little embarrassed by the last six weeks. I think we’ve all had a tough period…

“We’re hoping everything falls out way this weekend.”

People forget SPP is a 2nd year player, this year is part of his footy education which ultimately he will benefit from, he may not even realise that yet.

I still can’t quite work out how they will (most likely) miss finals from being 11-4!!

Massive fall from grace.

They had injuries, but so did collingwood and GWS and both of those teams seem to have been able to fight through it.

Was it a case of players looking around and waiting for someone else to take the lead and not doing it themselves?

Pretty big indictment on the club given the talent they brought in

The slide started in round 15. Barely getting over Carlton, hardly convincing over St Kilda, losing to Fremantle was the 3 weeks that, despite 2 wins, spelled the end of our season. Losing to GWS and Collingwood I can cop, losing to Adelaide and West Coast as we did was the killer blows. Both games were ours, both games we blew by playing stupid football late in the game. They keep saying we're learning from those losses, doesn't seem like we are.
