Wingard and Motlop strains, Polec more of a tear.

Not surprised Wingard has a tight hammy, his legs are significantly bigger then they've ever been.

NEW recruit Tom Rockliff and key forward Charlie Dixon have earned promotion to Port Adelaide’s leadership group for the 2018 season.
Travis Boak has been endorsed to lead again, for a club-record sixth AFL season.
Ollie Wines will again serve as Vice-Captain while Brad Ebert, Hamish Hartlett, and Tom Jonas retain their leadership roles.
General Manager of Football, Chris Davies, says the leadership positions were voted for by the playing group.
“Travis was clearly the person we wanted to captain the club in 2018.
“Ollie is maturing every year and showed last year that he’s an outstanding leader. We have every expectation he’ll strengthen his talents in that area with each year that goes by.
“Charlie has done everything right since arriving here and has made a significant impression throughout the club. He’s a strong, positive influence.
“And Tom has come to the club from Brisbane and, within a matter of months, has shown our players that he’s a leader amongst them. The coaching group too, has been rapt with his character and commitment.”
Davies says the seven players’ leadership credentials are beyond question, but ultimately their challenge from here is to deliver.
“Ken (Hinkley) has always been strong on our leaders’ first obligation being to perform themselves, and from there help organise their teammates around them,” Davies said.
Jackson Trengove is the only omission from Port Adelaide’s 2017 leadership group after moving to the Western Bulldogs during last year’s free agency period.

I'm stoked Rockliff has been able to create such and impression on the playing group and club to have earned a spot in the leadership group. He's a former club captain, so he's got the goods to be a leader, to earn the respect of a group in one summer suggests to me he's done everything right. Get his shoulder right and he'll be a more than handy addition to our clearances in 2018.

Dixon's story keeps getting better, he's played more games in 2017 than ever in his career ( 18 in 2016 and 23 in 2017 ) and was getting some recognition across the competition for the season he had in 2017, to now make his way into the leadership group is a feather in his cap and I'm very happy for the big bloke. Clearly his body is in better shape then ever and he's obviously matured as a person and player. Hopefully season 2018 he makes his. People still knocking the trade?

Not a fan of big leadership groups, 7 is way too many, also a perfect time to change leadership over to Wines IMO.

Effectively 7 of the match day 22 are leaders. Too many chiefs etc
Dutchy might have a point.
I think there should be a Captain, vice captain, and depending on what position they play, a deputy vice captain so all three cover the forwards, mids and backs.

I don't think the leadership group has as much to do on game day as it does in the setting of standards day to day around the club and away from it.

Game day would be, IMO, more about your own mental preparation as opposed to listening to the leadership group who are preparing themselves for the first bounce.

Probably only the captain who is really vocal to the group on game day before the bounce, then once on the field I'd say everyone would be encouraged to be vocal in supporting or directing team mates.

It’s like the workforce these days, everyone feels the need to have a title.
It’s like they can’t do the job without that important title.

Agree and agree with Dutchy too re making Wines skipper, 7 is too many and I'm not a yuge fan of a bloke being brought into the leadership group having never played a damn game in a Port guernsey.

Captain: Wines
Vice: Ebert
Vice Vice: Dixon

Leave it at that.
