GC can select (outside of the draft) upto 10 players formerly on AFL lists and then ontrade if required.

Thanks CP (and Dogmatic).
And that is how Krakourer ended up at Collingwood too?
Scott Clayton is one smart man.
Assume it means GC are looking closely at Lower, Giles and perhaps Tenace for their main list?

Has Phillips made it has he.

Has already been on an AFL list and didnt make it there.

Funnilly enough between Callinans SANFL payment and full time job he will probably be on more money than Phillips.

The way people talk about our brown paper bag and salary cap rorting that would only be half of it ;)

Serious question Dutchy and answer honestly,

Who would you rather have in your side Phillips or Callinan?

Yes
I think they missed seeing him play in the GF ;)

I know you blokes are looking for a rise, but you really need to think these things through properly .. He was well beaten for a half (beaten both by an excellent opponent and his own mistakes) and a bit before taking no further part in ONE game (and a unique one by his experience, at that).

Now Im not suggesting he'll make it at AFL level (obviously for his sake I hope he does), but I would have thought he'd done enough this season to have earnt his selection .. AFL clubs crave pacy ball carriers that can kick goals.

Port might have given up a bit more than I think they needed to, but I don't doubt he would have been on other clubs radars too.

Players like Scott Harding & Wade Thompson?
Sydney have already had him and he didn't make the grade.
If other clubs were interested it would have happened earlier than 1:55 on the last trading day.
Good luck to him if he can make it.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

AFL? Phillips, 22 years old and plenty of upside and can play midfield. His goal from the SW pocket in the Prelim was pure class

Cant Callinan play in the midfield

Thats Phillips problem imho, has class but only plays one half of footy at most. In all honesty i am yet to see him play a decent four quarter effort.

Add to the fact in the SANFL his biggest and really only attribute is his speed, in the AFL he will be in the middle of the pack when it comes to speed so cant really see what he will add to any side.

Never heard of the drafts?

When Sydney had him 4 or 5 years ago Im pretty sure they were busy playing in Grand Finals and retaining a spot with them was no easy gig.

Anyway, you've obviously got your mind made up based on 1 game so good luck to you, it really only effects Phillips and the Power I guess.

If he was that hot property, he would have been taken on the 1st day of trade period.
Phillips has been around the SANFL for 3 years not 1 game.

Are you suggesting his other seasons for Norwood have been as good as 2010? (or even remotely near it?)

Are you suggesting that no other state league players will get taken in either the National, Pre-Season or Rookie drafts?

Point is he got picked up now rather than in the National Draft which to me proves he was hot property and that Port wanted him now rather than risk going for him in the draft & him not being available...he can play just gotta improve his consistency over 4 quarters and under a professional system where he's gonna get more fitter at a more mature age could help him....definately worth a punt and was someone I had hoped Adelaide would snag.

Cats wanted an earlier pick in the 1st round so they now have 2 picks in the top 23

You must have seen a hell of alot of him to make such an accurate analysis of him.

I'm sure he will enjoy playing on Footy Park more often next year.
