Great news regarding trengrove.

I know this is remote, but i wonder if port have ever considered making a play for cameron wood?

How long is he contracted for at the pies?

I'm not sure its thats remote. He would have be a definite consideration, but I suspect what we would give up in terms of a trade, and what Collingwood would accept, may be too far apart.

Gray - Although at times his on-field work ethic can be questioned, he is no doubt a very talented footballer and just needs his body to hold up so he can fulfil his obvious potential. His balance, ability to set up a teammate and his work at ground level are just a few of his strengths – those being evident early in his career and his continual freakish ability to conjure up a goal where he is not expected to. Is really close to taking the next step, with another pre-season behind him next year and more time on the ball I can see him having an absolute breakout season in the not too distant future.

I'd consider trading him (will possibly come back to bite me)

It is fair to point out that Lobbe has already shown great signs of developing into a quality mobile Ruckman, but he needs support and he needs it in bucket loads. Only Gold Coast average less hit outs than Port Adelaide, and less per week on average than the opposition. I don’t care what anyone says, having a quality ruckman is the difference between just playing in finals and winning premierships. The ruck is becoming more and more important in today’s game and Port needs to quickly address this area if it wants to climb the ladder again.

Good stuff Stazza
Agree they need a ruckman for about 3-4 years, as I think Redden and Lobbe will make a good combo once mature. Brogan had the advantage of developing under Lade and (I think) Primus. So the ruckman they need also needs to be a mentor and leader. Jamar has the skills, but does he have these abilities? Hudson comes to mind, but doubt he has that many years left, Cox and Jolly ideal but untouchable, Ottens too old. Hille maybe?

What do you guys reckon about Broadbent? :? Personally, I think his decision making is terrible, he doesn't read the play well, his skills are average and doesn't keep too close a check on his opponents, often being easily 'shaken off'. :? Not the best report card for an AFL player, regardless of age. I might be being a bit too harsh, but IMO he needs to SERIOUSLY improve in all of the above areas over the next season or two to retain his place on the list, and indeed continue his AFL career.

Yeah, he's had a so-so year in what perhaps should have been a break-out year. Funny thing, GH, is all those problems, apart from checking opponents, were strengths he was showing at the Eagles.

He's no orphan there FH. There won't be many players who'll achieve a pass mark for the year along with the skipper. You'll be able to count them on one hand. Hopefully it's moreso a confidence thing and once he finds his feet at that level, his output and effectiveness will improve. Primus isn't afraid to give him a run-with role with some of the opposing gun midfielders, so just as long as he learns from some of the harsh lessons I've seen dished up to him this year.

The year is just a write-off and the sooner Round 24 is completed, the better. If we manage to jag a win and avoid the 'spoon, it still won't mask how pi$$ poor we were on & off the field in 2011. We'll see how they turn out at the start of 2012 and how many have improved their skills, attitude and competitiveness. Right now the most important thing is to retain these quality young blokes on our list and to see if we can salvage a few more positives from these last couple of matches.

There'll be a lot of sore necks between now & draft week, with a LOT of blokes looking over their shoulder, waiting for the tap. ;)

Great news indeed.

I think the signing of Gray and Boak in the last year or so would have gone a long way to helping Jack make his decision. He has seen two other young stars sign on with confidence in the future, so why shouldn't he?

Good to hear.Well done lad. Well done to Port for holding onto him too.

Apparently Port are trying to "break the shackles"

I've done a screen cap of this gem, in case he corrects it. Seems pretty generous to the Port fans:

First team to finish 17th :). I seriously can't talk, when we finished bottom last year a few mates went out and got me some wooden spoons.....which have turned out to be fairly useful. Still it was funny.

The win last night would've given them some hope. (Anything under 5 goals I deem a win for them).

All BS aside, I reckon they'll knock off the D's this week.

Listening to SEN this morning seems there is a strong push from Victorian clubs to grab the still out of contract John Butcher. carlton, richmond, North and Melbourne appear to be keen.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
