I remember hearing a few years back before Sam Mitchell made his AFL debut that he won the VFL medal with 21 votes playing half the season.. polled 7 BOGs!

Congrats to Dane Swan, an absolute gun who obviously woke the umpires up after last years poor polling.
Very similar to Gary Ablett years ago, dominating the stats but not the votes by the umpires 1 year then winning it the following.
I thought he spoke very well & was very humble, it showed his mindset was on topping the year off with a premiership.

fair to say well deserved medal winner he has been the best footballer in the league for a few years now and finally get the recognition he deserves

by the way i dont support collingwood in any way shape or form but i think swan deserved the brownlow medal he probably should have had 1 or 2 more to his name

Well done Swan

What i thought was interesting was they way the umps allocated votes not too often they were share amongst the two teams with one side getting get all three allocated no matter how close the game was, this may have been a reflection of why the vote tallies for the individual players were so high.

Was a pretty popular victory across all levels .. Seemed as though his peers were delighted for him, and Im yet to hear a member of the public be anything other than stoked for him.

His acceptance speech was a ripper too, well done to the lad!
