Adelaide had pick 4, Sydney pick 5, GWS pick 6.

GWS want Tom Green, one of their Academy players, basically locks him away for them and with next years draft a mess they've done well.

Adelaide on the other hand probably still get their man this year at pick 6, instead of 4 as they know Green will go at 4 so they've really gone from 4 to 5 and they get their's and GWS 1st rounders next year.

Fair play to them both.

Will they need to use pick 4 for Green? Must be good if he is costing them 2 1st rounders

But how does this affect Sydney? I hope they aren't being disadvantaged again.

It's that or trust that Adelaide or Sydney don't bid on him.

If Adelaide, bid pick 4 GWS have to use 6 and whatever points they need to make up the gap anyway.

They won't use 4 on Green.
If they still had 6 then it would have played out as you suggested and they keep next years first rounder.

This way they use 4 on someone else, and when Sydney bid 5 they can then counter with a series of points from later picks.

Idea is they get a pick in before anyone bids on Green. Therefore they will get a kid at pick 4 & hopefully Green at 5 or 6 by using up a build up of picks points from lower in the draft whenever the Swans or whomever bid on him.

Basically betting on Melbourne not bidding for Greene. As he is an inside mid & they have Oliver, Viney, Harmes etc I doubt they will take him.

It's a cracking move from the GWS. Basically means they get 1st rounder from this crop on top of Green. So 2 x fist rounders really.

And for the crows, well Its only 2 spots back and they likely will still get the player they wanted and the added bonus of an additional pick in next year's 1st round.

I wonder from Adelaide point of view, is this the Lukosious move?

Without a doubt.

On just a points basis, Adelaide is about 1000 points in front

Bad luck Crows fans, Lukoscious just signed until the end of 2022.
Things finally starting to turn for Gold Coast, hope Stuey can see out the resurgence and enjoy some success.
Could they finish higher than Adelaide as early as next season?

Nope, will be stone motherless last next year again. Will be amazed if they win 4 games

Yeah you have been pretty clear from the start that you don't rate him, fair enough as at the moment he is just so good potential.

Hypothetical, if Gold Coast don't finish last who does? Fremantle? Very hard to pick who will be 17th, have to give the Crows a chance but 12 games at Adelaide oval probably means that will never happen.

Port or Sydney.
