How long before the first copy cat smashed parked car appears on Adelaide streets, with a Power scarfe wrapped around the windscreen wiper? I think the PAFC should launch a campaign encouraging young kids not to be a bloody Impey..
;)

How dare that someone goes off tap a little after their father passing away.

I think what annoys us plebs is that we would not get that much assistance in trying to cover it up if it was us

Eh? I think it's more the other way around, how many of us would be interviewed as the main story on the news for it?

He erred, no one got hurt, he's gotta face the music and accepts that, it could be a blessing in disguise for the young man.

Indeed has has, and will.

People do far, far worse and aren't rolled out in front of the cameras to issue public apologies ( Insert two arseholes who killed innocent woman near Flinders a month or two ago ), but because he plays footy at the top level he is made to do so.

Interesting that Port train Sat morning and then don;t have to report back to the club until Monday morning, having Sat arvo and all of Sun off, why not make this break in the middle of the week? Might lower the chances of something like this happening.

Id call that accepting your position as a role model.

Just speaking from experience, I was a lost soul when my father passed and spent a few weeks only finding the answers at the bottom of a pint glass. I was single at the time and didn't want to burden anyone with the demons going on inside of me, a loss that I couldn't replace and a void that that will never be filled.

But yeah, he's an AFL footballer, not a human, at least I had age on my side and 3 kids that I had to try and convince that I was still the same person.

I was fortunate enough that after about a month I was able to escape the alcohol cycle I had developed.

Bit of a leap there Lightning.

Each reacts differently I suppose. I lost my father when I was still in school but never went off the rails.

Absolutely, we're all different and no doubt age, outside influences reflect on our coping mechanisms.

I by no means think what he did was acceptable behaviour, and yes, he should be somewhat of a role model for the younger community, I'm just not sure that he deserves the public stoning that some are pretty much suggesting.

TBH I hadn't realised his father had died recently, not that it would excuse what he did but I wouldn't normally ridicule someone going through such loss.

I dealt with the deaths of my father in 1980, my mother and sister in 2007, and my wife in 2008, without going off the rails in any way - a few quiet tears in private, getting on with the business of arranging funerals and getting their affairs in order, and then a bit of a pause to mourn quietly and privately once that was all done.

I never quite get the drama and public display some people require, but then none of them were a total surprise as they all been ill for a while before their deaths.
My wife's was the only unexpected one - her illness was not expected to be fatal but she vomited in her sleep and inhaled it - and that the only one where I had to do CPR till an ambulance (eventually) arrived.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Doesn't excuse his actions, nor does it influence his eventual punishment but it is part of his life at the moment, and thus part of the "story".

Na, of course not.

I'd rather see the public try and throw some obvious much needed support his way rather than ridicule him, it's out of character and can't be erased now.
