Geelong having a crack at Ebert from WCE.

WCE want Ports pick 28, Port are willing to give pick 33. Geelong have offered pick 26, which the Eagles are happy with but Ebert will not agree to the deal. Wanting to head back to SA.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I wonder if the Gunston deal has been pushed through so that they can now move onto another bigger trade using the draft picks it netted. Those picks might be useful to sweeten the Maric or Armstrong deals, or for another deal not floated yet.

Plenty of talk about Adelaide getting pick 2 in the Mini Draft. As GN said, maybe they need these picks so they can then obtain this pick.

Could def be used in an effort to get Lynch and Hooker over the line (these players have been rumoured to be talked about)

wouldnt mind those 2, could offload the pick 37 (possible for Maric) for Lynch and Hooker in a 3 way with Armstrong

Pick 24 would also currently be the best offer for Brad Ebert, beating what Geelong & Port are currently offering.

as a geelong fan i am not sure why we are going after a bloke who wants to go home. Only thing i can think of is to on trade him to port for a homesick travis Boak

Well done toHawthorn...they certainly won that trade.

1st round pick doesn't mean a thing when there are going to be 20+ guys picked before you get your player who if any good will probably already be gone. This is meant to be a weak draft as well so anyone over 25+ you can assume is not going to be an Agrader, there are exceptions though.

On Ebert, he has Port blood...can understand why he would want to go back to a club that is a big part of his family. Geelong might have been playing games by trying to raise his price....

Good point GN, would you be happy to basically swap Ebert for Gunston? I think thats a pretty fair trade

I hope not. Tell you what. You can have D.Motlop and pick 28 and give us pick 24 to get Ebert? Great, done deal.

Anywho, with all this pontification about pick 24/26/28, surely in a compromised draft there is little chance of the WCE actually getting who they want with the pick they are holding out for.

On the AFC website:

Crows List Manager David Noble said: “We are pleased with this result as it forms an important part of our overall strategy. Our intent has always been to be flexible in a complex environment and this is a part of the end result we are trying to achieve by next Monday.”

Definitely only the first part of several deals Adelaide intend to do this week I reckon.
