There are reports that up to a dozen football fans are excited about raffle specialist Brent ‘Boomer’ Harvey beating Michael Tuck’s game record this weekend.

“I suppose I should be excited; it is an amazing record,” said footy fan Elise Mayberry.

“I assume North fans are excited. I’ve never met one, so I’m not sure but you’d think they would be.

“I just wish it was someone else you know? Like anyone else.”

Long time Kangaroos fan Bertie McNichol said Boomer had always said he was motivated by the haters.

“No wonder he’s played so long then. He could play until he’s eighty if that’s what gets him going.”

Hawthorn fan Derek Suarez said he was disappointed Michael Tuck’s record was being broken.

“I guess this is what people mean when they say it’s tough being a footy fan. As a Hawthorn fan I never really understood what that meant.”

“This has left me feeling pretty flat. Don’t worry about me though. The annual premiership always cheers me up.”

A spokesperson for North Melbourne said there had actually been a huge amount of interest surrounding Boomer’s 427th game.

“We even sold one of those commemorative jumpers the other day, which I can tell you is a busy week for us.”

Couldnt have put it better myself

Not surprising but I tend to agree with the people that think he is a big selfish

My take, Duck rang him and threatened to sue him. However, he doesn't really want to go to court, as some of it might be proven, so is happy to accept an apology, of sorts, from Boomer.

So is Boomer selfish, in the same way Steve Waugh was perceived as selfish?

Watched a little Boomer highlight package last night.... My favorite play from his entire career was when he breezed past Jaensch. Reminded me of a Simpsons episode.... You could see the exact moment he broke his heart.... And stopped chasing. Enough to make a bloke loose his passion for the game. When a bloke 10 years your senior, makes you look slow!

Well played Boomer. Thanks for the memories.

No doubt the publisher would be making the call on the release date.

As far as Harvey is concerned I guess he figured he could put any old shit in the book, I mean someone actually reading it would surprise everyone involved.

I think what sums up Boomer is when he was asked if he will play in 2017, he said words to the effect that I want too and think I can get to 450 games...I did not recall/read that he mentioned wanting a premiership with his teammates.

I think that's how you'd like to sum him up - not surprising.
I've lost count of the amount of times he's said that winning a flag is his number one motivation & what keeps him going the most.
What also isn't surprising are the posters hanging shit on him ATM - predictable.

Honestly you would have to be the last person to complain about anyone hanging shit on here.

Cry me a river.
The fact is if they are to win a flag, he should not be in their 22. Whilst he is, they won't go anywhere near it.
He can hold his own I give him that but not under finals pressure and pace where his age will show up.

We all pick our marks, Stan. I'd like to think if a bloke from any club was playing a milestone game that I'd refrain from sticking the boots in.
But thanks for the personal assessment

will boomer's book sales be down due to the fact that he admitted bits of his book is fiction?

I think they'll be right. It's more that parts of them don't fit Carey's idea of fact.

I too think it will be a mistake if he goes on next year, a mistake as far as Norths chances of winning a flag goes. Their list reflects the Australian population at the moment, ageing fast.

Remarkable achievement that should be celebrated in it's own right.

Definitely. I mean, where are booksellers going to display it? There's no 'mostly non-fiction with a touch of fiction' section. Will be really confusing. Could go into the 'cookery' or 'self help' section, perhaps.

Or it could come with a warning, like the 'Parental Advisory' stickers they used to put on CDs with naughty lyrics in the 90s.

Only 3 prelims in the last 9 years, yeah nowhere near it

As for the book, doesn't everyone see the trend here when someone releases a book, there is always a controversial part leaked to the press, free marketing that no doubt Duck was in on.

I think MW is talking about going forward, he's right. If North don't win it this year they have gone backwards and they'll lose several players to turn the list over and some of them are the keys to the side.

Remind you all that North are actually 11-6 not 6-11....despite the recent lull are as good a chance of a flag this year as anyone in the 8 except the Hawks.
