I wouldnt discount Geelong for a top 4 spot.

Freo are likely going to be worse, and I dont think Richmond and Sydney will be improving either. I think Geelong can catch up to these teams.

Top 6 is certainly in the equation imo

Define worse.

Does that mean they'll win more games?

Very much so, they finished just outside the 8 with nobody winning contested ball. They've got Dangerfield ( the ex-Crow, you'd be familiar with him? ) and added another Selwood head to crunch packs. Add big man Zac Smith from Gold Coast and they might have a sound lead ruckman to win some hitouts to advantage.

Lets not forget, they have the best name on any AFL list at the moment, about to turn 20, 198cm, 96kg key forward Wylie Buzza, yep, Wylie Buzza could be an instant cult hero.

I'll take that right now, unlikely

Geelong an absolute certainty to finish top 4 with their very favourable fixture, would even go as far to say they will finish above the Hawks at the end of the minor round

Yep Cats would be near morals for the 8, and I can't see why they wouldn't push for the top 4

"The five teams that the club will meet twice are Adelaide, the Western Bulldogs, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon and the Brisbane Lions"

That's pretty decent.

Yep and most of their tougher games are at Geelong, 17 wins without raising a sweat

Sydney will be adding Mills to the mdifield and Sinclair in the ruck. With Bird and Goodes out it will mean more midfield time for Heeney and Mills. I would say they will still be around the mark.

4 wins against Essendon and Brisbane, split the others 1-1 and there's 7 wins from 10 games.

According to SEN there's a fair bit of discord across the border, with Essendon being able to snaffle the top-up players before Melbourne, St Kilda, Port and Bulldogs might possibly be allowed some. Case in point was Jamar, who it's believed was offered more from Port and keen to move, but Essendon put a deadline on his offer and as Port hadn't been approved a top-up allowance, he didn't have much choice other than to accept the deal.

Their middle tier players have an extra season under there belt and there's a fella called Harley Bennell heading over there that could be their x factor/missing link.
He will be like the 5th match up for opposing teams, I'd start him on the flank and give him free reign to float up and down the ground, this season will make or break him, hopefully we get to see the Bennell we want to see.

Not sure how much truth in the Jamar story as he was quoted as saying he wasn't keen on moving only for a year and with him being a ruck coach at Essendon there wouldn't be a lot of difference in coin

Yeah I remember reading something along those lines somewhere .. Irrespective though, if the other clubs are going to be granted replacements it seems unfair that all clubs in that boat couldn't openly compete for the players at the same time.

yeah if they can get Bennell up and firing that would be massive.

But I just cant see them kicking too many goals this year. Thats what they needed last year, and I feel like they will go backwards in that regard before coming forwards.

Having said that they did miss ballantyne and walters for large chunks of the year.

They need someone like Taberner to kick 40 this year, and I dont see that happening.

They are too good to not play finals though. Probably still be pushing for top 4

Whoever has us twice is laughing, will be atleast one 200 point loss in there somewhere. Will lose plenty by 20 goals giving some teams a pretty unfair % boost

Had a bet with a mate on the weekend that you'll win no more than 2 games .. Have always thought you won't go through winless, but my mate reckons you'll win at least 4

do they play brisbane and carlton twice?

Losing to essendon is something Melbourne would do too.

Would take the overs on 2 wins

Bennell has hardly trained according to reports, due to calf niggles.
