Thought they may have gone with someone who isnt a drug cheat just to try and move on from the whole saga. Merret or Zaharakis would be ideal to lead the club forward

Zaka has no interest in doing it and isn't even in the leadership group. Merrett still a little too young and Heppell has been groomed for the Captaincy since day 1

I see Hirdy has been allowed to go home following his stint in rehab. I wonder if he'll still continue to get help at home too. I think EFC need to put what happened behind them and welcome him back. Even if it just for a minor role. C'mon Bombers!!!!

Just watched Media Watch. Unusual to start a post on here with that statement, but there you go. Haven't seen any of the Daily Mail Australia's work thankfully, but it's fair to say that I won't be starting any time soon. To continue to harrass James Hird after all that we now know, is gutter journalism at its worst. 13 photos of him catching up with a "female friend" for a coffee, with the inference being he had taken a lover. The "female friend" of course turned out to be his sister Amelia.

David Myers set to miss 6-8 weeks after rupturing a tendon in his finger during a tackling drill at training today.

THE Bombers doping saga just won’t go away. The Herald Sun is reporting allegations Essendon reached out to underworld figure Mick Gatto in hopes the 61-year-old Melbourne identity could uncover information relating to the peptides scandal.

The Herald Sun reports two former Essendon employees — including dual premiership player Dean Wallis — made the claim as part of a Worksafe action against the club.

In addition to the Gatto revelations, the pair also claimed to have removed emails and covered up fraud, cocaine use and sexual harassment.

“I have been scapegoated in relation to the supplement program, while others at the club have been covering up the use of cocaine, sexual harassment and fraudulent behaviour,” Wallis, also a former assistant coach at the club, alleged in his statement.

The meeting with Gatto was allegedly to obtain information from Shane Charter, the former bodybuilder linked to Stephen Dank who decided not to give evidence to an anti-doping tribunal at the last minute.

“In November 2014 I was asked ... to set up a meeting off-site with Mr Mick Gatto, who was an external well-known dispute resolution specialist,” ex-team services manager John Elliott alleged.

Exactly, kick them out or close the friggin book on it.

Perhaps the AFL need to replace every board member and employ their own and start fresh and not allow anything from the past to have any media coverage or substance. Let sleeping dogs lie, they've served their penalty PTFO.

Don't think there is nothing new there.
Was no secret that Charters and Alavi suddenly changed his tune, think it was even mentioned at the time that it was strange that one day they were going to testify and the next they declined. Guess we will find out in due time as the AFP and the AFL have all the clubs records

I don't think there is any board member left from the saga days. If any of the old board members are guilty of anything they will be found out and should cop whatever criminal charges are applicable

Call me a cynic but what a co-incidence that TFS returns tonight with none other than Mick Gatto as a guest [emoji3]
