NM have said they did an exhaustive review and interviewed the best in the business with regards to finding a new coach.
So who else was on the short list besides Shaw?

He won 4 of his first 5 games (including wins over Richmond & at the time in form Collingwood) then were horribly unlucky losing to both Brisbane & Essendon in the last minute.
I don’t think there’s a coach in the comp less “under the pump”

Sounds familiar....

KEN Hinkley has declared he is the right man standing, not the last man standing.

Painted as the reluctant Port Adelaide coach, Hinkley took issue with suggestions he had to be talked into becoming the Power's fourth senior coach, saying: "Never was there a doubt that I wanted to be an AFL coach".

"I know the club went through a long process but I was involved very early on in that, when I had a conversation with Keith (chief executive Keith Thomas), and sometimes there is a reason for some people to come out on top at the right time.

"People have said I was the last man standing, I've heard those comments, but maybe I was the right man standing."

Walker didn't do his apprenticeship under the 2nd best coach in the comp

With about 100 assistant coaches around the league it would be easy to judge, too. ;)
