Leadership is a seperate skill from your football ability, to think it is simple as the best player is your captain is dillusional.

So was he a dickhead? ;)

We all agree your best player doesn't have to be your captain but should your best player be in an extended leadership group?
I say 'YES' to this.

Dane Swan the leader
Ben Cousins the leader, there was no issues there...

???
Cousins was captain and Swan was in the leadership group atCollingwood for a period of time.
Are you saying they shouldn't have been?

Gray is no captain but IMO he'd make a good VC.

I know the criteria for leadership has changed these days but surely you still need someone who shows some emotions on field as a leader still.

And Hombsch is a far better leader and player than that plodder Jonas also.

Well your opinion differs considerably from the people who make the decision and if you haven't got Wines as your Vice Captain you're wrong, twice. ;)

Mate he's going home anyway whether you make him VC or even captain ;)
You can have 2 VC's these days as well.

He'll have his pilots licence by then, be able to fly home during the week to see the family in his Piper Cherokee. ;)

Alberton is definitely a different place these days!
Players of yesteryear barely held a drivers license or finished primary school..........

Boon my opinion on Jonas is that belting a bloke late and getting 6 weeks doesnt shout leadership to me. Regardless of what he says off the field its what he does on the field that I judge him by.

Fair enough, plenty of split second decisions on the field have been wrong ones though.

You mustn't rate him then coz he has barely touched the ball in the last 2 seasons. ;)

Were you ok with Worsfold being captain at West Coast for all those years.

Jonas shouldn't be judged on that act in fairness. That was a true brain fade and deserved at least 6 weeks, but he doesn't deserve to have it hanging over his head long term. If he did it again or a couple times again different story but he made a split second choice to go to the contest and got it horribly wrong.

Bickley was a pretty good captain, and most port/crows supporters can still remember what happened there

Whether he likes it or not it's how he will be remembered by most people unfortunately!

True, we do, but it didn't take away from his leadership abilities which is what some are suggesting with Jonas.
