every team plays each other once

then the clubs are broken into 3 groups of 6 and again each team plays the opposition in its group once

1 - 6 - playing for final spots

7 - 12 - playing for 7th and 8th

13 - 18 - playing for draft picks

Ok thanks for that.

Yeah I guess they voted it down on he basis that they couldn't play the biggest games twice every year.

In terms of the draw now, I think it is about as good as you can make a compromised draw (where clubs play other clubs around them more often)

It got voted down because there are that many flaws in the system. The biggest flaw is that 13-18 play for picks with the highest placed getting the higher pick, the teams are at the bottom because they are crap, they need the help. If you finish 18th you deserve a better pick

not necessarily Jim

some clubs tank for the draft. look at Melbourne for example, what good have their draft picks done for them??

I think you need to find a balance and reward those clubs trying to win matches and not draft picks

Draft picks on kids isn't the be all and end all for clubs as much as they think they are. a number of clubs have remained competitive in and around finals without completely bottoming out

I don't like either, footy should be for the weekends.
It's a pain in the arse for tipping comps and fantasy footy leagues too.

FNF is already the highest rating match each week, why throw another game in and split the audience and lose the additional audience if the second game was played on a different day

2 games on fnf will reduce the total combined audience received

Its not the AFLs fault Carlton cant afford to sack malthouse right now

Carlton are in fnf cos they bring the biggest audience (normally)

It's funny how our minds work, Bulldogs dismantled Sydney in Sydney, the new kids made Hawthorn look 2nd rate, as did Essendon who lost to Collingwood who lost to Richmond who lost to Melbourne.
