yes, Eade was still in the running as late as last night, Port contacted him and gave him a thanks but no.

Couldn't afford him apparently.....

Well according to Keith Thomas money was no issue with the coaching spot, so is he telling porkies then ;)

Seems no one believes anything/everything the Advertiser reports, unless its about Port Adelaide.

We have a thread on this site with a lot of discussion about the inadequacies of the Advertiser. Yet they write something about Port, and its automatically pretty much all correct (apparently).

Whether it be The Advertiser, 5AA, SEN, people you know close to the club, pretty much everyone believes Ede and Cameron were likely to be offered the job at some stage, but they fell through.

I don't really think it's much of an issue, by all reports Hinkley has been a highly rated coach in waiting for a long time and if he's confirmed as the new coach as expected, thats really all that matters.

Hope he does well for Port, would be good to see them on the rise.

Yeah, fell through for various reasons. Cameron apparently withdrew from the running about a month ago. As did Eade. Yet both have been in Adelaide in the last 2 weeks to discuss the position. How much did the media report that these blokes were restricted a month ago by what they could say due to being involved as Assistants with clubs still in the finals. A lot easier and sensational to say they weren't interested. Cameron ultimately withdrew from the process, that wasn't a fantastic look for the club, but it may have said as much about him as it did the PAFC. It also wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened either.

The media are listening to people with agendas and taking it as 100% gospel. Yes, the club didn't run a 100% perfect process, but equally the club also said it wasn't going to provide a running commentary on what was happening. As such, the media is interpreting what it sees as happening and putting their own slant on it.

Fair enough criticise the club where its warranted, but when people are relying on Rucci for their facts, not to mention people like Patrick Smith, then obviously its not going to be a clear picture of what is actually happening behind the scenes
If Port Adelaide does not appoint Ratten coach for 2013, then it is proof the South Australian club is very much the ratbag organisation we all think it is.

I wonder what changes if any will be made to the assistant coaches now that a new coach has been appointed.

The first outsider to coach Port in the AFL. I wish him all the best, hopefully can get the club back where it should be.

Just on this. Although the process looks bad and definitly had its faults, they have ended up with Hinkley and Richardson as well on board. If they still have Rhen, Hocking and Gotch as assistance then is is probably one of there best coaching panels since the 04 flag. Thats not a bad effort considering how pear shaped it has gone.

Isn't it time the entire Port Adelaide FC club cut this prix off from any further information?
