He's just one of those blokes I can't get a read on for whatever reason .. Maybe it's because it's hard to look past Pendelbury, Swan, Beams, Thomas, Sidebottom etc.

if this deal is true Crows would have rocks in there head not to take it, although i dont rate Dawes all that highly he is very much like for like with Tippet as a forward that can pinch hit in the ruck (which the crows need) plus 2 high quality picks. Massive win for the crows if this happens imo

Especially if you consider what they would get from GC.

Don't forget about Dawes' 2.5 tackles a game.

I dont think free agency is helping football at the monent.

The saints who finished 9th or 10ish have lost there best player. Port have lost 2 of there starting 22. Tippett jast pissed of from the state and is dancing around like a hired gun from the old west with his services off to the highest bidder.

Although its nice to have news I reckon this cant be good long term. What are other peoples opinion on this?

Goddard….always disappointing when a long time player decides to leave the club, but if you don’t want to be there p*ss off. I support the club’s decision not to match Essendon’s over the odds offer.

Hopefully we can land a reasonable kid with the draft pick. Agree with Stan above though, FA not good for footy.

the strong get stronger in 90% of the cases, opportunity to play AFL for some players who are fringe, loyalty goes out the window!

I agree with Paul Roos article

And the Crows could potentially have 3 picks in a row come draft time.

What you will see with free agency is clubs over paying for players!

I dont like it at all, Tippett is not a free agent so they have to trade for him or he goes in the draft. I can see more and more players not signing contracts to offer themselves off to the highest bidder.

I guess on the flipside, lets say Tippett for example was a restricted/or unrestricted free agent this year, he has no contract for next year and he gets another concussion in the last game of the year, doctors advise him to never play again, who would take him? I can see free agency as a big risk for the players too.

I reckon we'll see clubs spending all of their salary cap in advance with 5 year deals to entice players. Eventually injuries and lapses in form will hit some of these players and clubs will be stuck footing the bill for has beens and players that didnt reach their potential. Then when they try and recruit more top end players, there'll be no more cash to go around.

Panther, you won't be surprised to note that the AFL Players Association were behind the initiative then.

Will be interesting to see if Port show any interest. Perhaps a deal involving Jacobs, and exchange of draft picks.

Has two years to run on a contract, we dont have the money to pay for some elses mistakes.

Pearce and Chaplin will leave plenty of $$$ available. Would be a walk up start at the Power, has had a few move ahead of him at the Roos.

Jacobs swap might be on the cards, but maybe a pick as well to come our way.

Also great to see Majak Daw get elevated to the senior list at the Roos, however I think another club must have offered to list him which forced the Roos hand, why else wouldnt you put him on as a rookie again...

You can only be on the Rookie list for 3 years, so the only option was to place on the senior list or delist.
