Its not finalised.

BTW Does the $600 - $700 mill estimated cost include costs surrounding :
underground car park
tramlines
footbridge
setting up sma
cost of saca election
making sure crows debt free by 2014
demolition of aami stadium
paying council for car park access

Also can you also find me an article from before the RAH proceeded saying the actual total cost will end up being $2billion.

Given the government's track record with cost blow outs for major projects its pretty dumb to think that the budget stated for the project will end up being the final cost. Already on public record that they won't be outlying any further funds. So who pays the difference?? Or does Mr Rann & Mr Conlon get out their gym tights and perform a massive back flip.....

The same way a new hospital won't be an advantage to everyone. The same way the Southern Expressway doesn't benefit everyone. The same way the Anzac Underpass doesn't benefit everyone. The same way the Northern Expressway doesn't benefit everyone etc, etc.

not if its to aid the one central developement smac IMHO!!!.

just cos the gov couldnt afford the underground car park at adelaide oval. And it needs to be funded by a private body.

doesnt mean it needs to be exlcuded as an expense to make the developement happen.

I thought the 500 whatever dollars was for just the Adelaide Oval upgrade only. Not all the other bits and pieces.

The article you refer to should allay your fears. Conlon says developers believe the money allocated is sufficient. Demetriou says they will toss in a few bob. Whats the problem? The fact the article is 2 months old?

Mopar I think you are stretching here ...

If you buy a new lawn mower does it cost what you paid for it or do you add in the cost per hour for your time in assessing options, petrol to get there and back to pick it up, the new set of safety glasses you picked up & the cost to dump the old one? What about if it is linked to a bigger garden job you are doing?

You've got to draw the line somewhere otherwise you'd never buy anything because you'd convince yourself everything cost double what it's face value is and you'd do your head in adding every possible cost into the equation.
In between signatures .....

100% agree with you hondo.

Only problem is that isn't the scenario here.

There is what the gov budget is and then there is the total cost of the project. They aren't one and the same.

Otherwise why would they need a private investor, afl funding,An upset transport minister etc.....

Btw wasn't transport and road upgrades part of the aami stadium upgrade Budget in 2009.

At the end of the day I believe the AFL fans wouldnt be against the developement if the total cost was a billion.

I apologise in advance if I have offended anyone with that comment.

more so it's that they said the same about rah budget.I'm Not trying to start a fight about yes/no.

That's over with.I'm more looking at return on Investment.

I certainly don't agree anyone should be labelled as having nfi because they don't subscribe to the theory this will be an instant success based on increased discussion on 5aa and Internet forums.

I'm very surprised this stance has caused so many to get their nose out of joint tbh.

Even without all the "extras" it will still be a better venue and easier to get to then Footy Park IMO.

No nose out of joint here. I'm a glass half full type. Going to Melbourne a few times for the footy, I can see the benefits of playing footy in the CBD. Can go out after and have a few brews. Footy Park is game finished, join the traffic jam.
