Interstate coaches will remember Robert Shaw being chased back across the border with knitting needles and being pelted with balls of wool.

One of them who sits near me nearly took out someone's eye last year. She was whacking those plastic clapper hands so hard she broke the frickin thing, and one of the little hands when flying about 3 rows down.

Was wondering how long it would take you!

Yerp, not looking too flash at all.

In my defence, the betometer was Grahaml's big call, he just wasn't man enough to back it up so I stepped up to the plate.

As for the other - well, Adelaide still have a chance of doing better than they did last year. ;)

The list also falls away pretty quickly blokes such as Petrenko and Henderson have barely dominated SANFL games never mind playing at AFL level.

Neil Craig has done a very servicable job at his time with the Crows but imho he has taken them as far as he can. Time for someone else to step in. Bassett is throwing his name in the mix with a great start to his coaching career at Norwood.
Yeah they seem to lack any fire in their bellies and their skills are pretty poor.

I posted this in the Crows forum on the subject of Craigy, thought I'd post it hear on the open forum too as I don't mind feeback from other supporter groups:

Gingernuts wrote:I must admit I am losing my confidence in Craig as coach. There is no doubt he is a very good coach, but I am beginning to wonder whether his ideas are becoming stale and a change is needed.

That said, I am greatly concerned that a change in coach could only worsen the situation. I am worried that there is a lack of proven coaches out there willing to take the role, and we could end up with a 'green' assistant or former club identity that would end up leading the club into an extended length of cellar dwelling.

People need to consider what the alternative would be when they call for the axe to swing. It's all very well to suggest "get Roos" or "get Malthouse", but it is highly likely that they would not come, and we would end up facing some of our darkest times as a club with an untried coach at the helm. I'd take Craig any day over that prospect.

It was always going to happen - although I was hoping it would at least be a little bit closer!

TBH I just wanted to prove that not all Adelaide supporters are big talking softcocks.

(because of STUPID site rules I can't comment in the Adelaide Crows board, so I'll post here)

Regarding talk of Neil Craig being replaced as coach......

IMO I think the Crows are over-complicating things.

There's a term used in IT circles called "analysis paralysis" and I think, watching the Crows, they're suffering from it.

Wiki refers to analysis paralysis as "over-analyzing (or over-thinking) a situation, so that a decision or action is never taken, in effect paralyzing the outcome. A decision can be treated as over-complicated, with too many detailed options, so that a choice is never made, rather than try something and change if a major problem arises. A person might be seeking the optimal or "perfect" solution upfront, and fear making any decision which could lead to erroneous results, when on the way to a better solution."

Totally agree mate. They are playing scared. They won't back their team mates in one on one. The midfield is just non existent.

I don't think this is necessarily Craig's fault. More a lack of experience IMO.

In fact I think yesterday they finally succumbed to exactly what Craig was trying to avoid - they looked like a team who have accepted their own mediocrity. I think Craig is right to set high standards because otherwise you get what was served up yesterday.

They are certainly far worse this year than I expected them to be. I didn't expect them to be world beaters or anything, but I expected some competitiveness and improvement.

So in effect Adelaide is like this;

You've done a shit, and now is the time to wipe, the decision is too fold or scrunch, you can't make up you mind, and therefore the shit just dries to your crack, and you end up stinking it up.

No wonder Adelaide is giving their supporters the shits.....

It's good to see Adelaide supporters have finally caught with what us non Adelaide supporters have been thinking about Neil Craig for awhile.

I still hold to my point that I doubt we could secure anyone better.

The big names won't come to Adelaide, I don't care what anyone says, and that means we have to go with someone completely untried.

Is that a great idea just as the club is entering what will possibly be the most challenging period in it's history?

Not saying it shouldn't be considered, but it certainly should not be rushed into. Everything should be analysed and seriously considered before the trigger is pulled on Craigy, because the last thing that is needed is a knee jerk reaction that sees the keys thrown to someone with absolutely NFI.

One thing is for sure - any decision made now has a serious impact on whether the club rises from the ashes, or descends into an extended period of mediocrity.

So, when the new coach arrives, how we he deal with Craig moving into another role at the club?

If it is a person from outside the club, say, Ken Hinkley, you think Hinkley would like the fact that Craig is in an office down the hall still?

Get rid of Trigg and Craig or nothing will change. Hang on something has changed, Adelaide and Geelong have swapped places since Ayresy arrived. Karma bus first stop West Lakes. Second stop Windy Hill?

I don't believe he has been guaranteed anything beyond his current coaching arrangement. You are purely speculating with that statement. I highly doubt that Craig will stick around when he reaches his used by date.

I'm not defending Craig, he is up against it. I just hope the club doesn't knee jerk and rush an ex-club legend into the hot seat without due consideration. How is Primus doing by the way Booney? ;)

Primus is gunning it. He's had as much success as Craig but he hasn't taken eight years to do it.
