The Crows have to start at the top and find a coach with a attacking game plan , Craig is way too defensive and stubborn . The facts are Franklin kicked 7 match winnng goals and had 1 opponent , there are plenty of quality up and coming coaches coming through the system and i have no doubt The Crows will be looking at all of them .
Adelaide Football Club has never had patience with its coaches in the past eg Shaw , Ayres and Craig is falling into that same category ..... played finals , but .........................

Burton must be traded in hope of securing a power forward wether it be early draft pick or established out of contract player .
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .

Burton wouldn't be worth a hell of a lot now, i believe hes 30 next year, would probably only get a 3rd rounder or mid range player at best.

3 years ago they could have gotten something for him but not now i'd say.

Fair point GWW .

Adelaide need a key forward badly eg Brown , Reiwoldt , Mooney , Rocca , Lloyd , Fevola , Franklin , Lynch etc etc

I disagree. The Hawks had a myriad of chances to put the Crows away; there's nothing gutsy about wasting chance after chance in the last quarter. The Crows once again getting in front after being totally outplayed in the last quarter - that was gutsy.

I disagree also, think the Crows had their chance in the second qtr to just about put the game out of reach but failed to do so

I agree with you Hafey. Neil Craig is way too defensive and waits too long to make a move (if he makes one at all).

We would have to be the underachievers of the 21st century and there is no way we will be a finals chance next year. We need to have major cleanout and look at EVERY player seriously (including Burton) and rebuild for the future. A good start would be to get a new coach.

Amazing the difference 3 points makes. Had Buddy Franklin missed all the talk would be about how well the Crows did etc etc. All the Hawthorn people would be lamenting the missed opportunities from Lewis, Bateman and Roughead x2.

Instead all the talk is how Neil Craig should be sacked and no-one has mentioned the missed shots by the three players mentioned above. It's all about Buddy (and probably quite fair enough too).

I agree Hafey. The guy does not adapt quickly enough. I could see in the first quarter that the match up on Franklin wasn't going to work and I'm not a football genius.

Time to turn over a lot of players too.

Geez, what a crap weekend... Sturt lose by 7 points, Crows lose by 3 points and Port win by 3 points.

Exactly! =D>

Footy is a tough game and supporters are tough judges - Buddy made a few clangers during the day too. How often does a guy slot 2 clutch goals from outside 50 in the last quarter? You're spot on, Roughead missed a set shot 2 minutes earlier than Buddy's as did the other guys. In fact, the Hawks controlled the entire 2nd half but the Crows held them fairly well - listen to some people and you'd think Hawthorn kicked 35 goals and Buddy kicked 20 of those while Neil Craig had a coffee out the back and watched a DVD. If the Crows could have kicked to a team-mate rather than out of bounds on the full then Buddy never has that shot and the Crows are licking their lips for a crack at the Roos.

Still waiting for the scrutiny on Paul Roos whose team went down by more than the Crows BTW ........

There seem to be quite a few Neil Craig bashers out there at the moment..
I for one was disappointed when he was appointed a few years back and really thought the Crows should have gone a more experienced coach, I however now think they've done the right thing....

There are a number of things that have counted against the Crows in the past 3 years (in which they have made the finals each and every year under Craig) including injury, poor match planning (training too hard rounds 17 - 21 and flattening the boys off for finals), hitting Hawthorn the week their Captain announces his retirement - and didn't they play for Richie on the weekend and not to mention in previous years the quality that is West Coast, who but for injury this year would be spoken about in the same vein as the Brisbane side of 5 years ago...

Anyone who thinks Craig is too slow to react or doesn't have it in him - think about the job he has done.. name a genuine match winner for the Crows...
Eagles = Judd
Swans = Goodes
Power = C Cornes
Hawks = Buddy
Geelong = G Ablett

The simple story is not enough high draft picks and no real out and out match winner that can grab the game for 5 - 10 mins when we need it and drag us over the line.. We are a very even and committed team who just hasn't had the luck go their way in September....

I agree completely with SD on this one.. I thought Massie was a bad match up at the start, he looked like a dwarf standing next to Snow White, but he was the only one quick enough to go with him... he did a super job in the 3rd quarter and actually won 4 or 5 one on one duels against Buddy - who seemed to be the only "go to man" in the 2nd half...

Credit where Credit is due - The Hawks work ethic, committment and running capabilities as a team got them accross the line and blokes like Hodge, Mitchell and Franklin don't grow on trees and show the next 5 - 6 years for the Hawks should be very very good....
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

What about the Crows playing for our captain retiring as well??? This is no excuse at all.

The Crows match winners could be anyone of McLeod, Goodwin or even Edwards....all capabable of taking a game on, the only thing going against them these days is age.

I agree! Lets all ignore the issues the Crows have and pretend everything is ok. It was only a 3 point loss after all. If Thompson didn't kick the ball out on the full, they would have won, and then we could have glossed over Craigys poor coaching, moved on to the next week against the Kangas. The supporters would continue using injuries as an excuse for the lack of depth, and the media would have had more time to prepare the complete overkill of Roos retirement.

Stupid comment Hondo

Paul Roos' side has one a GF and lost one by a point in the last 2 years.

Neil Craig's hasn't got close...

Yes he has - 2 prelim finals FFS

You make it sound like we finished bottom

2 of the last 2 year's top 4 sides bowed out in week 1 but over-scrutiny on one and none on the other is inconsistent IMO

I have missed your positive Crows' comments BTW :wink: You went very quiet when we won 3 of last 4 and made the finals

Our finals appearance were always going to be brief Hondo.

2 Prelim Finals is not a good record and not even close to winning a GF. As I said before, we are underacheivers and we need to focus our energy on rebuliding our side not defending piss weak performances.
