If this goes ahead, it smacks of a compromise after the feedback from the clubs and players which would have been something like .... "yeah like the concept, but play as least games as possible and don't disadvantage some clubs over others in terms of players participlating (cue Eagles, Crows, Dockers and Power)"...

If there's all these compromises then clearly it's not a priority for anybody

I think they did vote @ the players association of all players and the % of players wanting to play SOO was actually high - there should be some way to find out the % !!!

The article stated that 11 out of 16 clubs and 86% of players were in favour ... but I am asking for a recount knowing that the format is going to change!

If Judd is against it, then which other name players are against it ... have they also included players 30 onwards on the list who have little chance of gaining a jumper? That makes the percentages a bit more irrelevant.

I'd bet it would be more like 6-7 clubs and 60% of players if I is going to be Vic-AS in May at the MCG.

Thats a pretty big number of players - so if there is 640 currently listed 550 of them said yes to playing SOO in its traditional form - but if they were asked to play for a combined side I am sure it would be dramatically less.

Some one else wrote that there hasnt been much said in Victoria.

Of course the media in Victoria wont talk about this as they still get to see the big V - whilst SA and WA get the big updabum !!!

It depends what they were actually in favour of - maybe they all agreed on the basis that it was only 1 game  ?

Be interesting to find out

If 1 game is the solution you would have to assume people were in favour to an extent only ...... I reckon no-one was in favour of some of the carnival-style options posted on here

Spoke to a Victorian on the phone today and slipped in the SoO topic and he said "Yeah, what's going on? We've heard nothing!".

When I told him what we are hearing, he said "F--- that, it's not worth my team's players getting injured in a meaningless exhibition game! Give me SA, Give me WA!"

The feeling's mutual - do it properly or not at all!

Biggest load of crap i have ever read. I am Victorian and I know alot more who want SOO to be VIC Vs SA. WA Vs. Vic and WA Vs. SA. The AFL have no idea on what the public want and the reason why SOO was scrapped was because of Essendon, Adelaide, Port, WCE and Fremantle not willing to risk their star players for it. They are paid to win premierships not SOO it is the same thing with the International Rules series which is a complete joke IMO It is suited more towards the irish than the aussies.
