The last post by 'bulldogs' sums it up for me - I am not saying we should blindly stick with the same guys, but I also don't think it will help the team or any players if we start wielding the axe and writing the year off just to appease some supporters. What better experience for the guys than to play in a finals series and while that's still a possibility I wouldn't write the year off to experience. The changes suggested in this thread sound about the mark to me.

I'd be interested in Sydney-Dog's comments actually

We have no pace Hondo. Port will kill us with their speed when we play them unless we get rid of some of the slower players, ie Bock, McGregor, Perrie, etc.

For us to play in the finals we need to win 4 out of our last 6...can't see it at the moment, but then again I havnet got my rose couloured glasses on either

There should be changes made for sure !!!

Look my guess is as good as any but outs should be as follows.

Shirley - Doughty for sure

I think a couple of players are also playin injured Goodwin and Johncock are for sure with Perrie and Bock also lookin injured as well - so give them a rest.

So that leaves 6 to come in - lets wait and see hey.

Sides that make 6 changes rarely win football games. Most sides are playing injured players at this stage of the year. You simply have to get the best available players on to the field.

Were all these changes recommended after the Hawthorn game?

Perrie should be sent back to North Adelaide for life, and if they don't want him send him back to the WAFL. Worst forward getting a regular game in the AFL.

I actually called for changes before last weeks game against Freo.

My call is that we will just be makin up numbers in the finals and that we really should be lookin towards 2008 and playin some untried players - especially with players that are injured that would be crucial for 2008 !!!

How sad is it that some people are pinning our forward line hopes on Nick Gill? He’s 24 freaking years old, has failed at two clubs, is injury prone, and has never played an AFL game. We are stuffed.

Play the kids.

Now.

I think he's older than that?

Don't think anyone is pinning their hopes on him - more wanting to see if he can contribute before his 1 year contract runs out.

Edit - no, you're right - turns 25 in August

Gee, Gill is one of the best KKP players seen in the SANFL for years, i have a sneaking suspicion that he is one of those players who will play at the same level, regardless whether it is at VFL,SANFL or AFL. He Kicked 7 in a qtr at Norwood last year...he is TALENT.

For me Mcgregor is the match up for Lucas - Stevens although he is holding his spot is just not strong enough for Lucas and I wouldnt try Bock either as I really do think that he is playing injured @ the moment !!!

I would actually give Massie first crack @ Lloyd based on speed and his ability to rebound quickly after the ball hits the deck.

Back to Stevens I wouldnt seem to mind if he starts to take on Bassetts role in defense - he can read the play !!!

Maybe not if Sheeds remains as the coach until the end of the season, as this year the team that got rid of their coach only won the next game when the caretaker coach was in charge.

But as an Essendon supporter I hope you're right.

I stopped reading when NFC said he doesn't rate Nick Gill, but of course he wants to put as many Norwood players in as possible!

not good timing to see Sheedy go from essendon, abit like connoly going from the dockers last week. If essendon needed motivation against us there it is :(
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

The problem is he wasn't standing Mal Michael or Dustin Fletcher that day. Nor Darren Glass, Leo Barry, James Clement, Matthew Scarlett - even Daniel Merrett.
