Talk on the national game

Roos are above the AFL average for Points scored, Scoring Shots and Inside 50's this year...means they are attacking more than the average AFL side...

How can I make comment
NONE OF THE f****** TV CHANNLES SHOWED THE GAME
I will view the game when the fox replay is on at 7-00 tonight and assess.

Yep that is a joke. Surely Ch7 locally knowing it had to do the Adel/Freo game "live" into Adelaide could have shown the Cats/Roo's game live instead of doubling up with Fox in a live coverage of Hawthorn/Dogs. Then for the same 2 stations to do the Adelaide/Freo game live is also a wasted exercise.

They both don't mind sharing transmissions when it suits so let's see if they really care about the supporters and not double up live games twice on one day!

Too True, i would have rathered watched the Geel vs. Kangas game than the freo vs. crows game...but instead got the same game on 2 channels... all about choice!

Adelaide are without doubt the worst team to watch in the league. Professors aren't interested in astethics.

I know I will be shouted down for this but I reckon both Adelaide and Sydney are the two best sides to watch. They may come across a bit boring on telly sometimes but to watch live they are awsome. They control the footy when they have it and they do what they have to to control it when they don't have it. Both sides will hold the ball up until they have to dispose of it but they are both able to quickly run the ball out of the back line with quick hand ball and lots of run from their team mates. They all work for each other and no one player is any more important than any other in the team. They tackle hard and don't give their opposition any slack.

I can't wait for the responses but I admire the way they play football...................fire away!

Better than rushing the ball forward and turning the ball over. The only way you can kick goals is by keeping possesion of the ball instead of giving it back to the opposition I would have thought?

If you want a scoreboard shootout watch Basketball, there is a goal every 30 seconds.

See scoobs comment mate. I like other things in footy like contested possession, none of this Joel Bowden cheap possession rubbish. Each to his own but just remember, it is everyone is who is crazy.

Of course everyone else is crazy!

I agree with you that kicking it to yourself across the half backline is pretty boring to watch but why kick it forward if there is nothing to kick too? I am all for hard faught contests and contested possesion but why kick it to a team mate who is going to be under pressure? Whatching these sides on telly is frustratng because you can't see further up the ground, they focus too tightly on the ball carrier.

I think what I am trying to say is that watching the whole team work the oval is interesting and exciting footy when your team has possesion. There is more to the game than the tight camera angles than channel 7 perfected back in the 80's

Sad times when the full forward has to try and outmark the opoosition
ruckman, full back and the guy playing loose man in defence.

Then when one of those players beat him they look up have no one to kick to
so kick the ball to the player 16 meters to the side of him in the back pocket

That player waits until one of the 3 that stood the full forward run to the opposite
back pocket so they kick it to him

Eventually they get the ball to a leading player on the half back line who marks and then kicks it
backwards to a player behind him.

That player kicks it to the wing to his team mate, who in turn kicks it to the guy in the centre
who then kicks it to the guy on the other wing ..........

AND FOLKS THATS WHY WE HAVE SO MANY POSESSIONS IN FOOTBALL

Not necessarially - you keep making generalisations based on early stats before everyone has played each other. The Roos haven't played Sydney, Adelaide, West Coast, Freo - pre-season's popular picks for top 4. Carlton kick 18 goals v Brisbance and we applaud an "attacking" side, they come up against West Coast and kick 4.

Im just staing FACTS which you cant argue with, what will happen against other teams is pure speculation...every team we have played so far was above us on the 2006 ladder

I think you, me, SD, Mal, etc have taken up 4 threads arguing the same points. Bit over it now, don't know about you. Judging by the callers in to 5AA tonight I think we'll be coming back to it a few times more this season :)
