Talk on the national game

I can't recall seeing Carlton ever wear an alternative strip either - not even in pre-season but I'll stand corrected

my view is simple and consistent across all clubs

each club needs to have a clash jumper, those games that the afl believe the clubs jumpers are too similar and may cause confusion then the away team should wear their clash jumper

for example, when the crows play the demons, when the game is played in Melbourne, the Crows shoud wear their clash jumpers, visa versa when the game is played at AAMI

Roos/Collingwood?
Geelong/Carlton?
Essendon/Saints?

and why would you want the Umpires back in white? ...I dont think Ive ever heard anyone against the change to neutral colours for umpires

Fremantle and Brisbane (based on this year's pre-season number) are on the right track. Most sports elsewhere in the world have cottoned on to the idea that the away team wears a predominately white uniform.

I agree with Dutchy, the Crows 'away' guernsey is not that different from our normal one so doesn't actually fix the clash issue - cue the away game against Melbourne last year. In fact, apart from the $ income from selling a second top to the kids, I don't know why we need to wear an alternative guernsey in away games where there isn't a clash - such as against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

BTW, do Essendon honestly not understand why their alternative strip concept was rejected? The AFL are simply not on top of this issue.

i think the point was that was gonna be the top if they were forced to were a clash jumper. it was never meant to be approved, cause Essendon didnt approve of having a alternative strip in the first place and nor should they, they havent changed there design or colours since the start of the afl, unlike everyother team. Before collingwood supporters start having more white strips than black and now having more black strips than white ones is a design change, but Essendon havent even done that.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

It would be great to see Port in the prison bar guernsey, but - would they be lace ups?

So Essendon submit a clash jumper just for the sake of it even tho they know it will get knocked back? .... sounds like Essendon are giving the AFL a great big bird (maybe they deserve it  )

Collingwood also submitted something that was knocked back ... anyone got a pic of it?

simplifying jumpers will avoid clashes.
Imagine the Crows (yellow jumper red number) v Melbourne (red jumper blue number/blue jumper white number)
Kangaroos (royal blue white number) v Collingwood (black jumper white number)
Brisbane (Maroon jumper yellow number) v Crows (yellow jumper red number) etc

It is all these fancy designs & adding colours helping cause confusion.

I believe that Collingwood submitted a predominately white jumper with black stripes, white shorts and black socks with a white hoop.
