Mal your a disgrace and the Bombers you are not much better

To me, this should be a no brainer, I can not see the AFL allowing Mal to register for the draft, this will set a precedent the AFL will not want followed...

POOR Form Mal,

this is the same club that asked all 15 clubs to support the Rama proposal as it was in the spirit of the game

but also asked all the 15 clubs, if the AFL would not rule in the Bombers favour to show good faith and not draft Rama

This Mal case may be a legal loop hole but it is poor form

Let's not forget that this is not the first time Essendoin have done this. Several years ago, the Hawks wanted Paul Salmon (double B&F winner) to sign a new contract. Salmon declined and went into retirement. Hawthorn dropped him off their list believing him to be retired and then Essendon signed him up.

By the letter of the law, Essendon have done nothing wrong, but you have to question their ethics. This is pre-meditated and not something that happened overnight as they would have us believe. Sheedy has been promising the footy world that they would swoop and sign at least one high profile uncontracted player, and he's done it.

What about clubs who would have liked to trade for Michael? They couldn't because he was retired and not prepared to do the training. Then he comes out and says Essendon's training suited him more than other clubs. So Essendon's training is easier than that of other clubs? I don't think so.

I hated Michael's attitude at his press conference. No regard whatsoever for the club he won 3 premierships for. And I loathed his comment that he "gave" 6 years to Brisbane. Sorry Mal, you didn't "give" then anything. You were paid handsomely for your services. You were under contract for 1 more year, the Lions expected you to fulfill your obligation, they released you in an act of good will, and you pooped on them from a great height.

I wish no ill on any player, but I hope this jumps up and bites you on the bum Michael.

Oh ... and what happened to the kids in New Guineau? The reason you couldn't commit yourself to AFL football in 2007? Do they suddenly not matter any more? I think we all know the answer to that one.

agree, Essendon has exploted a loop hole and Mal will line up for them next year

but what you will see in the future is clubs will ensure players sign a deed of release which will prevent these types of situations

cant wait for rnd 1 at AAMI, all Mal will be doing is watching the ball soar over his head and the umpire raise his two fingers

I hope the Bombers miss the 8

Word on the street and Radio here in Melbourne. A "token" investigation followed by a, no case to answer decision.

Did anyone hear the footage of Dimetrio addressing the AFL masses today? Wayne Jackson he is not and never will be. If I was and AFL employee, would have voted a no confidence motion on the leader.

Well it's lucky Im not a "troll" then.

As I have said previously, I haven't spouted provactive statements to engender a response. Nor have I posted inflammatory, messages designed intentionally to annoy or antagonize. What I was doing in the thread on Fitzroy was defending my position and seeking answers from you about claims you made about my club...answers which have not been forthcoming, despite statements from you that they would be forthcoming.

I'm also entitled to ask if you have done what you claimed that you were going to do and provide the hard evidence to back up your original statements. You said it would take some time and that I would be proven wrong "sooner rather than later". I'm quite prepared to debate thuis new evidence about your original claims about Fitzroy when it is presented. Somehow I have a feeling that it never will be.

Re: the Mal Michael issue. I agree that Essendon have done nothing wrong. There's little to nothing that the Lions can do, although the reputed ambassadaorial contract that Michael is reputed to have signed to represent the Lions in New Guinea MAY prove a problem, depending on its contents.

There were a couple of interesting comments from both Leigh Matthews and Kevin Sheedy on SEN about the issue over the last couple of days. Matthews said he was at the meeting where Mal requested he be released from his contract, and says Mal never asked for a 'slightly modified training schedule' -- he wanted to disappear to New Guinea for a week or so at a time multiple times over the regular season. Brisbane wasn't willing to entertain that. Meanwhile Kevin Sheedy mentioned to Kevin Bartlett that Mal Michael won't be working on an adjusted training program. They get a day off every week and he said he might have a day 'where he just gets a massage or something...' If that is correct, and I see little reason to doubt that, it doesn't reflect well on Michael, who flatly refused to be traded by the Brisbane Lions.

Mal Michael has already picked up the Bomber arrogance

quote "If they want to give me curry at the Gabba, they'll have to wait until 2008 because we only play them once next year and it's in Melbourne. I doubt we'll be playing Brisbane in the finals".

Memo to you Mal
