Aerie wrote:It really has been the sweetest of years.
1. We have a few players leave to go to North in previous years until finally we lost our home grown state ruckman and all of a sudden it seemed North were on the up and the Eagles were imploding. Stated reason as this player wanted more game time as the number one ruckman. We hear how great it is being coached by Jars etc. etc.
2. We in turn recruit a couple of North fringe players, one of which we are hanging our hat on as a CHF hope, which is laughed at by those in the know at North Adelaide.
3. 1st Round 2006 - we get absolutely belted by North Adelaide and according to some posters, Inkster and others are having a great time in the North club rooms after the game. Should we be worried?
4. North shoot to the top of the table while the Eagles hover around the middle for the early part of the season.
5. It starts getting better now. Eagles thrash North at Thebarton Oval. Jars blames the cold showers and declares he'll never set foot in that place again. North supporters claim Lindsay will get his own back next time after his intimidating remarks at the North players in the warm up.
6. Hudson returns to the North line up, but not soon enough to be the number one ruckman against the Eagles at Woodville. O'Hara gets thrashed and in the opening 5 minutes the Eagles are already 5 goals up and on their way to the minor premiership. The Roost is going crazy. Jars blames the supporters. Drebin has a name change. North are in turmoil.
7. Things steady for both clubs and in the end only percentage (namely the 10 goal thrashings the Eagles handed out to North) seperates the top two teams.
8. O'Hara gets dropped to the reserves after playing second fiddle to Hudson for much of the last part of the season. What the? No one saw this coming at the start of the season.
9. Both teams cop a belting from the mighty CDFC and must face off in the Prelim for a spot in the Grand Final. Despite the fact the Eagles should have put the game away in the 1st quarter, inaccurate kicking and a determined North Adelaide see them hit the front in the 3rd term only for the Eagles to stamp their authority with 5 goals in time on. The game was put beyond doubt and a few late goals to North see them end up losing by 7 points.
10. North fans are livid at Skipworth's attack on little Matty. The whole South Australian football community rings Wedgie saying they wish North won so they could see a competitive Grand Final. Thornton starts taking bets and Skipworth is paying $1.60 that he won't even make it to the change rooms before the game because North supporters will ambush him. He was at least to receive plenty of boos every time he got the ball.
11. North reserves go back to back. There's a positive.
12. Eagles thrash Central in the Grand Final. Skipworth doesn't get any boos on any of the 32 occasions he had the ball and goes on to win the Jack Oatey. Grocke is a premiership Centre Half Forward. North fans ponder what might have been seeing they only lost the Prelim by 7 points.
13. Official NAFC website runs a poll on what type of player to recruit next year and North supporters still don't think midfield is a priority. Jarman's coaches reports ended the day they lost their first final. Punky loses $275 on a bet and still angry at what Skipworth did to little Matty. Already talk of big name recruits coming the Rooster's way which will surely at least get them into the Grand Final in 2007. After all, they've been a top 3 side for so long. Oh, wait a minute.....
What a sweet, sweet year it's been!

Besides the pathetic embelishments it is a bit ordinary bringing it out now, not previous to the GF like someone with some balls would have (and at the very least have posted it on the SANFL forum where SANFL fans frequent, not on a completely unrelated board).
I could write a similar post about 6 other clubs but I wont as its not my style. I'll wait till we're closer to 2007 as most would so we can take a bit of a risk and not just wait till mid October to post.
Enjoy your win mate, 2 premierships down, just remember that, 2 premiership only, I might not be good at maths but I think that still puts you at the wrong end of the table for premierships. Try not to be too cocky as it might well bite you on the arse but you have played it pretty safe making a comment like this after the season has finished relying on people's memories to be a bit hazy by 2007.
Perhaps have a look at the way Diss, Spelly and CD handle success and learn a lesson or 2 in life mate.
Good luck and enjoy the celebrations, I know I would, I doubt I'd even be near a keyboard yet!
PS I don't get into the AFL forum too often hence the delay, I actually just popped in to see if there was any trade news when I noticed this thread.

That's exactly my point mate, you wait for the safety of being reigning premier in the off season before bringing it out.
Piss weak in my opinion.
Only my opinion though.
I would have respected you a lot more if you had taken your cheap shots during the season when you knew you still had further games coming up and with the uncertainty of how you'd go in the major round not now that you're in the safety zone.
PS Punky may be a big boy but I don't think he can be desribed as more than one supporter, try again mate.

Perhaps Wedgie, you could buy a thicker skin for christmas, because I know I've had to buy plenty in the past.

Nice try to skew the argument mate but I agree with a lot of what you said (minus the embelissments).
Not offended at all, just find your timing a bit soft, I thought I'd made that point obvious (obviously not by your reply about thick skin, etc).
I know you weren't singling Punky out as you said "You may note it was only a response to the cockiest (pardon the pun) supporters of them all."
See this is what confused me and what I alluded too, Punky was the only one that made the comment on this thread to which you responded to, yet you claim it was in response to all North supporters. I personally got over Skippys actions a long time ago and Im not sure how you managed to spend time celebrating your premiership whilst getting around to all 2664 North Adelaide members to get their opinion on the matter?
I know of at least 4 your missed.
Just to reiterate to you as you obviously misunderstood my main 2 points were:
1) your timing was piss weak, put your balls on the line when the season is active and
2) you claim Punkys tongue in cheek post represents every North Adelaide supporters true opinion on the matter.
They're the main 2 points I was interested in and made most of my comment on.
You haven't addressed either as yet.
Don't feel you need to though, but don't try and skew the discussion to something unrelated to my points if you're replying to me by making silly comments about deeply offending people and buying thick skins as they're irrelevent and beside the points, not to mention making silly assumptions that I idolise my club without asking me first. Nice try though, a bit pathetic and childish, but a nice try, I don't blame you for trying to deflect or avoid the issues I raised.
I look forward to meeting you at the SAFooty get together, enjoy the Eagles win and keep enjoying and posting on this great site!
