Exactly.

Not gonna get a potential young superstar for a veteran with only a few years left...

The veteran players you talk about are arguably in the top 50 players in the competition vs a player with potential and the key word is potential !!!

How many players have had potential and have not set the world on fire - all 60 odd playersz that are going to be drafted this year have potential !!!
It is what it is !!!

Carlton wont trade pick one, so there are no guarnantees of getting Gibbs and a top 5 election is worth more than any of the Crows players ATM in IMO.

Hell a carey after 12 years with his record and standing a game was a Pick 2 and Edwards and mcLoed haven't reachd his standing.

the chances of us getting Gibbs are zilch......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

That's right BB - I am not a Crows fan.

But if I was - and if the opportunity arose to snare a player like Gibbs (doesn't have to be just him, maybe Gumbleton, Sellar etc.) by trading off McLeod or Edwards, then I think I wouldn't be too fussed.

Seems highly unlikely the team with first 3 draft picks will trade them and one would have to ask whether it's their failure to really snare match of great value in recent drafts (one via being stripped of picks, the other two due to trading of many picks) that see's them in their current positions at the foot of the ladder?

Top post CP - it will come as a great suprise if Carlton, Essendon or the Kangaroos traded off their first picks.

Since when is trading week interesting?? It is merely the sign that the boring as batshit off-season has begun. A bunch of has beens, fringe dwellers and never wasses being shopped around like a tart at a St Kilda show, the only real interest is in Akker and that has been done and dusted. I'm only hoping we don't offload Steve Johnson for friggin Paul Medhurst.

Trade week = BORING

trade period should be 3 days

the afl should invest some money and train some of these blokes in successful negotiations

it's about win - win boys

don't expect to get Chris Tarrant for a third round pick or a first round pick for Steve Milne

Have Freo made their usual trade week blunders yet, or are they saving that for the last day?

Could well be a three way deal Punky,on my information.

Mrs.Buckley (not Nathan  ) to Fremantle.Fremantle unload Schammer and pick 26 to Adelaide.Mrs.McLeod goes to Collingwood with pick 45.Freo make another massive trade week blunder.Could have got Mrs.Eddie...

Wonder when they plan to offer Chris Connolly a 14 year contract with a six year option?

it was interesting to read the club informed both Edwards and McCleod if they can not sort there shite out they would trade both players as trading one could split the club and its supporters
