If Port cannot make the eight with their list, Hinkley will not be the only person to be sacked...

There's a lot of home games against quality opposition, teams that we haven't dominated at Adelaide Oval.

Then there's the mid-tier teams that we play away which evens the playing field.

We'll need to play at our best to make the finals, we'll need to play out of our skins to make top 4.

Cold hard facts mate. We aren't as good as we're made out to be and we seem to play the better sides at home, we actually double up against most of the favoured sides.

You'd sooner play WCE and GCS away, Freo and Sydney at home.

My green games are who I expect us to win against, the red ones are where we'll assume the underdog status, the black ones are the 50/50's that we'll need to win at least 6 of.

Essendon will finish bottom 6 and mostly likely bottom 4. I’d be staggered if we win more than 4-5 games

I did this on Squiggle quickly

W L D
1. Geelong 18 5 0 118.8%
2. Richmond 18 5 0 112.8%
3. Brisbane Lions 17 6 0 116.1%
4. Melbourne 17 6 0 112.0%
5. Carlton 16 7 0 114.7%
6. Sydney 15 8 0 111.1%
7. Fremantle 15 8 0 106.8%
8. Collingwood 14 9 0 104.1%
9. Western Bulldogs 13 10 0 103.6%
10. Port Adelaide 13 10 0 100.5%
11. Essendon 9 14 0 93.1%
12. GWS 7 16 0 89.0%
13. North Melbourne 7 16 0 88.0%
14. Gold Coast 6 17 0 92.1%
15. Adelaide 6 17 0 91.3%
16. West Coast 6 17 0 83.7%
17. Hawthorn 5 18 0 87.4%
18. St Kilda 5 18 0 87.0%

QF1: *GEELONG* v Melbourne
QF2: *RICHMOND* v Brisbane Lions
EF1: *CARLTON* v Collingwood
EF2: *SYDNEY* v Fremantle

SF1: *MELBOURNE* v Carlton
SF2: *BRISBANE LIONS* v Sydney

PF1: *GEELONG* v Brisbane Lions
PF2: *RICHMOND* v Melbourne

Prior to doing the selections I thought Melbourne would drop, Carlton and Port would rise and Essendon, Hawks and North would be bottom 4. I thought St Kilda would rise, but obviously that didn't compute when I saw who they were playing ;-)

I picked Carlton to win the 50-50 games they lost last year but without a lot of science involved.

I also tipped us to win in Adelaide, something we haven't done at Adelaide Oval, ever.

Lock them in the flag then, based on your Norwood assessments last year!

Yeah, I just don’t see it with Essendon.
Norwood started poorly and looked hopeless at times but seemed to grow as a team and backed in the game plan.
I just don’t think Essendon have the talent to compete with the best. A new game plan and style might bring out something but unless half a dozen players can play out of their skins I just can’t see us winning too many

Fremantle is an interesting one there mate, 15 wins last year with 2 wins over West Coast and GWS ( 4 in total ) but losses to Gold Coast and St Kilda.

IN
Josh Corbett (trade, Gold Coast), Hugh Davies (No.33 draft pick), Josh Draper (category B rookie), Tom Emmett (No.41 draft pick), Luke Jackson (trade, Melbourne), Max Knobel (No.42 draft pick), Jaeger O'Meara (trade, Hawthorn), Liam Reidy (Rookie Draft), Corey Wagner (No.57 draft pick), Conrad Williams (category B rookie)

OUT
Blake Acres (trade, Carlton), Connor Blakely (delisted), Mitch Crowden (delisted), Rory Lobb (trade, Western Bulldogs), Griffin Logue (trade, North Melbourne), Lloyd Meek (trade, Hawthorn), David Mundy (retired), Darcy Tucker (trade, North Melbourne), Joel Western (delisted)

The addition of Jackson far off sets the loss of the inconsistent Lobb, Acres, Logue, Tucker all make the list a bit shallower and Mundy is a big loss.

Has their list improved?

It was just a prediction based on my guess I reckon. Think they will improve from last year and think their list is better than Brisbane's. Will win majority of their games at home and will surprise a few away. Just a hunch mate.

One of the hardest to read I reckon and you're right, could be anywhere from 2nd to 10th.

Play twice: Brisbane, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, West Coast, Western Bulldogs. Split those 3 with wins home and losses away and they'll be top 4 contenders.
